Just a quick note to say that I'm getting slight graphical glitches in FL - when you hover off a square, it doesn't always go from white back to its original colour .
Otherwise, I'm loving tonespace too - it's in my top five for sure.
Any chance of some more detailed documentation? I'm not too hot on theory.

Hi speccyteccy, thanks, will havea look at that glitch. Yes, I am planning on doing a tutorial, hopefully before the voting deadline is over
Meanwhile, all controls have extensive tooltips on them. You can hover over the +/- button of the combos for the meaning of that parameter, and over the combo content for the meaning of the selected value. (tip use your mouse wheel while pointing at a combo, and the tooltip is visible : you can then scroll rapidly through all values and tooltips.)

thanks! fyi : only slight cosmetic changes since the last one - functionality has been identical since previous version posted on DC site (1.0.144), so please feel free to base your judgment on that version

I had a look in FL6 producer and can sort of reproduce it only from time to time when I move the tonespace window real fast. Does the glitch also happen during normal use of the ts window on your system? Could you give me an idea of which hardware/software config you have?speccyteccy wrote:Just a quick note to say that I'm getting slight graphical glitches in FL - when you hover off a square, it doesn't always go from white back to its original colour .

Hi Puffer, puffer wrote:Yeah, this is a no-go for me in Sonar 6. I even installed net 2 - how's that for being a trooper?! It doesn't return errors on scan or loading, but the interface isn't there, leaving instead the all but useless Cakewalk-generic interface.
did you manage to get this working in the end? I would expect a problem with older versions, but since 1.0.144 (of oct 5) ts runs stable in any host I tried. Is there anything special on your system (64 bits, etc.. ?)
I don't have Sonar 6 yet unfortunately so can't test myself. Are there any other people having tried tonespace with Sonar 6?

ok,i set the 'space' to p5-m7[7:10](whatever that means) and that seems more like it.
now anyone managed to record the mouse in ext?should it be set to trigger chord at cursor?i've set tonespace up as a midi/groove insert playing balthor grand on a midi track in the sequencer,i think that should work?
it's pretty nifty, just trying to get it going.sorry if i'm missing the obvious.

don't know how it's done in eXT, but in Live for instance it just a matter of enabling midi recording on the track that contains the instrument that gets the tonespace midi output (e.g. Balthor, so not the tonespace track itself). I guess in eXT, if you can send tonespace midi out to Balthor you could also record that midi somewhere, right?
The ON INPUT parameter has no effect on playing with the mouse -you can always play with the mouse and its midi gets sent to tonespace-midi-out. Instead, it governs how tonespace reacts to your external midi keyboard or to midi tracks that you send to tonespace.
-TRIGGER CHORD AT CURSOR means that when you hit a keyboard key, tonespace will take the note-on/note-off & velocity from the keyboard, but uses the cell where your mouse is for the root note of the chord. This I find the most useful one.
-TRIGGER CHORD AT NOTE means that it uses the note from the keyboard instead of the mouse location.
-PASSTHROUGH means that midi in is vizualized (green highlights) and then sent to tonespace-out, without triggering anything.
-HIGHLIGHT NOTES means that just the vizualization is done, but nothing is sent to the tonespace-midi-out.
BTW, p5-m7 [7:10] means a grid with 7 semitones distance between cells in horizontal direction and 10 in vertical direction. My favorites are 3:4, 4:7, 2:5 and 2:7
fyi: I hope to finish a new version (1.0.148) before the weekend is over. This one will feature a number of presets that will make it easier to get started.

thanks for the detailed reply.
that makes a lot of sense.
i'm still not sure why ext is not recording the midi,so i'll have another look.

couldn't get xt to record the mouse-clicks.i could input notes in the pianoroll and it triggers tonespace but no mouse-record.
anyone else got it working in xt?
also, you know setting it to manual, then choosing your own chords, say m7?can you choose a different chord per pad?so I could be m7,II could be maj7 etc, kinda overiding the scale?

are you absolutely positive you are recording the midi after the tonespace output?spacedad wrote:thanks for the detailed reply.that makes a lot of sense.

not sure, but i set up balthor grand on a midi track in the seq as usual and andded tonespace as a midi/groove fx.when i input notes in the pianoroll it plays tonespace chords as expected, but when i press record in the seq it doesn't record mouse action.fabi wrote:are you absolutely positive you are recording the midi after the tonespace output?spacedad wrote:thanks for the detailed reply.that makes a lot of sense.

i must add that i haven't got a keyboard,that shouldn't affect it though,should it?
i don't quite get it.

if CH ASSIST is set too manual, you can select any chord with the CHORD parameter and that chord will be played when you click on any of the I, II, etc degrees in the scale. The only constraint is that the root note should be part of the scale. And to get rid of this constraint as well, you could choose the chromatic scale (but then the degree labels wouldn't make sense any more).spacedad wrote: also, you know setting it to manual, then choosing your own chords, say m7?can you choose a different chord per pad?so I could be m7,II could be maj7 etc, kinda overiding the scale?
but do I understand correctly that you would want to map I, II, etc degrees to different chord types automatically? (I have been contemplating this, but could not get it done in time for the DC deadline)
