TRIAC wrote:any chance to work on Radeon cards?

got this error:
DynKib::load
Could not load dynamic library RenderSystem_Direct3D9.dll

File:\sgpu\source\ogre\OgreMain\src\OrgeDynLib.cpp
line:82
Should work on radeon cards aswell, try to log off and log on again, the PATH environment variable needs to be updated after installation otherwise the VST dll doesn't find it's dependencies.

Which windows version?

ddummer wrote: Hey Nils, I did what ddumer suggested, loaded fine now in Tracktion (still same old ATI 9200) but no sound. Maybe that PixelSHader's missing here.
EDIT: I did a google search for this card, unfortunately this card lacks pixel shader support that the delay requires. I'm sorry....

Dont worry Nils. This machine is not for music. Will report later when I 'll test it on my DAW.

Cubasis vst 5 crashes when starting, wavelab lite 2.5 too. I can't use them, they don't even finish their loading. I'm using a Geforce 2 Mx 64 MB... Probably it doesn't fit the requirements (directx 9).

Also, what version of vst sdk did you use? Did you use specific functions of that version? I'm asking that beacause probably the plugin is not compatible with older versions of vst specifications (so it soesn't work in older host).

Anyway, I'm really interested in it! Keep on developping it, it's a great idea!

This plug is coooooool. Got it working on crappy FX 5200 here. Doesn't seem to like some hosts tho'.... eg. FL

Yes that one is too old, enything from NVidia below a Geforce FX won't work.

I used the VST SDK 2.3. I'll try some more hosts and take a look....

I'll check this out. I didn't test FL because I don't have it...

i just get a horrid buzzing sound,

but i think thats because i have the same range of ATI card that is missing the shredder

i have a radion 9250

but i'm glad to see its working for others!!!

this has looked very interesting,

now its here its just a shame that my card is below spek :(

oh well :)

keep up the good work!!

The installer could write a little batch file to set the path variable without the need to logoff.

set PATH="Path to you program"

I'll try on my pc and let you know how it works.

The installer IS already updating the PATH environment variable. But it seems that not every windows supports the change of this variable while logged in.

It works!! :o (Radeon X1600 XT here) Please developers, start working on GPU-Plugins :D

I can add that the card I used was:

ATI Radeon 9550 256Mb Ram

And it worked fine... tried 20 instances and that worked too
but a bit wobbly on the CPU meter when doing stuff in eXT
using low latency. (CPU was around 4 percent)

//Daniel :)

Sounds very good :)

How big was your "low latency"? 4 percent for 20 instances isn't bad because the CPU usage won't increase much even when I release more complicated plugins.

Tested with Nvidia 6800GT

Plug works fine with latest energyXT version, but produced a little crackle when inserted.

In Renoise 1.52 or the latest 1.8 Beta 4 the plugin produces crackles and doesn't work. The plugin brought 1.8 to crash. Renoise uses an accelarated OpenGL GUI as far as i know, which might be a conflict.

OH MY GOD _FINALLY_ SOMEONE DOES THIS! =)

i've been waiting for gpu accelerated plugins since i first heard about the possibility a few years back.

please please please: reverbs take a lot of cpu, please make a good reverb, or collaborate with someone that does good reverbs. please. =)

please! =))

Nils Schneider wrote:Not every algorithm can be ported, especially those that HAVE to go linearily through the buffer because they depend on the result of the previous sample.
does this mean that gpu-effects always introduce some latency? not that it matters much for those of us that have pdc in our hosts ;) .. curious, though..

if you decide to make a reverb yourself, these are the reverbs that I would try to copy or at least study and use as example:

- n:o 1: sonitus ultrafunk fxreverb

- wave arts masterverb
- classic reverb
- ambience

more good ones:

- sinusweb freeverbtoo
- silverspike r2
- waves trueverb (iirc)
- glaceverb
- magalovreverb

sorry if i got some names or something wrong, since it was a good while ago that i my test of trying out almost all reverbs i could.

many of them are freeware, and i think some of the devs would love to collaborate.

i want to add:
i myself would prefer a reverb that doesn't try to replicate a real room. instead i'd like something silky smooth, lush, and "dreamy", like the ultrafunk, and old korg dsp reverbs.

i'm thinking of radically updating my computer in the near future, and i think i'll have to wait to see at least what you come up with .. so i don't buy "the wrong stuff" =)

for now, what gfx card would you say that had the best "bang for buck" ratio for what you have in mind for the plugins? just interested =) (and i want to start drooling for a new gpu ;))

Post

Nice work. Glad to see a proof-of-concept finally.
