What's interesting, to me at any rate, is that there are so many different types of musician and musical aptitude. Before I dived into theory I always approached music as something some people just "can do naturally". I always felt like music was some abstract concept that had no structure or form, but the theory offers me a foundation that helps tremendously.
Some are great players, and others great writers, while others are great arrangers, and others natural counterpointers.
Some feel rhythm stronger than melody, while others think intimate while others think large.
Some have no formal knowledge at all and are geniuses - while others are lost without it.
Others are innovators in sound, while others are mainstream, but brilliant within it.
And some, No name, have just gotta learn the language of the dots
<Had the urge to wax lyrical here, so I hope you know where I'm coming from. I love playing so much. Just finished a 3 hour session
