If it was a vid card I would suspect overclocking and a heat problem. I wonder if Creative slipped the Emu a design change or the new lead free is subject to overheating? Not my area of expertise.
That's the same problem. I see you have one of the newer ones as well. I just purchased mine from floridamusicco.com a few weeks ago. Have you tried raising your latency? I haven't had time to check that out yet.

The overheating thing sounds like a good possibility. I'm calling Emu tommorrow to see if I can get answers. I'm not keeping this card unless I can get it stable.

Thanks,

Rick

You also could try asking on the Emu ( unofficial but strongly supported forum ) forum here. Emu staff makes frequent comments. Also the people there are more than happy to assist.

I tried a few tweaks today and have had a lot of luck so far (fingers crossed). I brought the latency setting up to 8 (then back down to 7 :D ). I think I also turned my video card acceleration down a few notchs and turned off windows power options (turning off monitor etc..). I'm not sure what did it yet, but probably the latency. I will say the Emu card is much more responsive for midi & audio even with a higher latency setting! Hope this holds up because this card sounds swwweeeet for $129 bux...

That matches my feelings about the card. Great value and sound. I just keep plugging away at various areas, tweaking.

The manual is not very helpfull from the git-go. If patchmix is great it sure isnt easy to grasp. E-mu pretty well dropped the ball there imho.

The new v2 1212m is indeed much more sensitive to heat. I found this by searching "lead free circuit board soldering" on google. If you look closely at pics of v1 and v2 you'll see design changes also to accomodate lead free solder. Consistant quality (specs and reliability) are tougher to acheive. Also looking at the specs carefully, v1 outperforms v2 in several areas. Sorry for this news, but this is what i found in my research. Mainly make sure to keep the temperatures cool inside your pc.
