Why is this brainwave activity thing always linked to hypnosis, munks, angels, meditation and the white light? It is obviously a spiritual matter, a belief that may be rooted in some eastern religion?

The brain is a large collection of neurons (nerve cells.) Nerve activity consists of electrical and chemical synapse. Both these mechanisms need some build-up time before the next impulse can be sent. It's logical that when optical or visual stimulation is applied periodically, that brain activtity to process it will be following that rythm, resulting in brain waves! The potential difference usually fluctuates between 0.5 and 70 Hz. There is an alpha state identified (relaxed/reflecting) as the 7-14 Hz range. This can be used for hypnosis.

Meditation requires the person performing it to focus their attention inwards. So the subject should bar themselves from external stimuli, which can be done by feeding the brain with a decoy like soft music or anything else that doesn't require the brain to do much processing.

Meditation is at the core of many religions, both eastern and western. So that's the link to munks, although I think religions are unaware of the physical processes happening inside the human brain. That's science and not religion.

I can't see any direct link to angels and white light, but anything unexplainable will be used in the blurred mystical world of hocuspocus for justification. Mixing pseudo-science with ancient religions and mystics works great for the New Age bollox believers ;-)

I used to think the internet was going to unite mankind. Now I realize the internet is perhaps mankinds greatest wasteland of bickering, greed, and narrow minds. " And we all shine on, " Imagine that.

Thanks for the clarification. This does seem logical, but I doubt the healing abilities / relaxation effect of such exposure. Maybe one needs a strong faith in this before it works? At least from my (limited) experience with these kind of sounds, it doesn't work at all.

Yes, well I mentioned angels because they are mentioned in the Ultradia ebook, linked to above. The white light is connected to certain types of meditation.

did you know that medical science is bassed on death?

its true 95 percent of all medical breakthroughs come from the study of corpses... ah, how little humanity knows about life...

and the true power of the mind, and body

good post...western medical science focuses on what to do AFTER someone gets sick and how to treat it with drugs rather than utilising the internal healing power of the body itself... we have far to go indeed.. this guy is on the right track though: http://www.drweilselfhealing.com/

Considering healing: nothing's as strong as the Placebo Effect. Let people believe that something works. The illusion that something is being done for their problems is often enough.

You don't get relaxed instantly by just listening to those tones. You need to actually, ehm... relax... (which kind of defeats the point indeed  )

Ah well, I didn't bother to read that if you don't mind ;-)
