I would like also one different colour for each new track, a quick colour select palette and the possibility to drag and drop an RGB code in each component (this would help raw skinning).
Another question, IMO the window opening when you select the tab of a docked plugin should resize to the plugin GUI, acting like a GUI switch, and remembering the plugin position.
I like the recent drop down list, but it makes sense having it duplicated in the File menu.
By the way, BPM window just shows two digits with no cents

Here's my boring conservative suggestion:
-> move the object-bar to the right from the current postion of the transport-bar - there's plenty of unused space
-> when windows are docked their upper bar (where e.g. the snap-settings are in the seuqencer window and the full midi-editor) could be moved to the right of the docking-tabs - it has the same height and would fit there - and for the case when there are too many tabs you could hide them by making left/right buttons appear which scroll the tabs (just like the scroll-wheel already does)
The combination of both suggestions would free up a lot of vertical screen-space without making drastic changes to the current gui.

Arp
MIDI FX
part

Jorgen, you seem to want to display a lot of part editing options directly in the seq, that's a nice way to get things rolling fast, but as soon as your project gets bigger it becomes cluttered.
The composer for example would eat a lot of screen real estate and i know i'd probably use it inline 1 out of 10 times... The multi purpose object bar could become confusing,
i think most of the midi editing should stick to the part editor. With a proper way to dock them both on the same page, it would be more streamlined, with little overlap in functions.
My dream gui for eXT2 would be on one single page : seq at the top, with underneath a dock with a part editor tab and mixer tab.
Double clicking a part would automatically bring the part editor tab in focus, and everything in depth would be accessable from there...
Just my 2 cents.
cheers

i'd say make the object bar as big as it needs to be, and make a keyboard shortcut to hide it. the button for the event list in the popup editor could toggle between that and the composer. i also like the ideas Branis posted.
another way to free up space could be a "full screen" mode in which the main window's title bar goes away...
anyway, here's my second draft

maybe thats just me, but I really don't need the freq analyser. It s nice, could be attractive for beginners, but takes room for nothin really usefull.

my attempt on browser. I simply missed to develop the "sample" folder in the brwser left pane.

I also thought to a trick to deal with two resisable screen space: on the dock thumbnails, you can see a dark one labeled "browser": when right clicking a dock, it simply appear in the low area. note: if you right click again, it jumps to full screen, also if you left click the same, full screen also. What do you think??
