I think he's referring to using ST2 as a front end for both libraries. I have, though, found some nice acoustic instrument patches in SS - a bass and acoustic guitar or two that were rather nice. But, honedtly, I think you can get what you need that you're missing on an "as needed" basis from eS and do better that way.
If you do a lot of synth work, you'll suffer no trouble by acquiring SS, especially if you don't have any sort of "monster synth" type plug yet.
