Jens - you just have a way with words.

Wasn't sure how to take you at first (many moons ago), now it just wouldn't be the same without it. :hihi:

But I really like how you're focusing on things - and what things you're focusing on. I think I was a bit like you a while back - a little disheartened by the new toys coming out when I didn't feel like the foundation was quite there yet (oooh mixed metaphors), but it's like you're trying to get us back "on message" to quote The West Wing and it's cool by me.

we're lucky the user base is really concerned about the program, now let's stop being gay about it.

cheers to everyone putting some work into this beta testing, we all know why we're so up about it...

I pretty much spent 10 hours a day this holiday weekend just testing. It was a blast!
Great nwe toys and lots of user attention to loose ends. Hopefully that inconsitancies and annoyances thread will get looked at.

I agree that functional areas should be finished before moving on, but Jorgen has got to keep normal people (and himself) interested and give the world a glimpse of the final design.

He tends to work with a little new and a little fixed each Friday. That's ok by me but a build every month or 2 that was a clean-up build would make the program much higher quality.

I'm resurrecting this one as it is a linked FR Theme - and I would like to add a suggestion myself.

I was thinking given how "groovy" XTC parts are in XT2 that we should have a "render to XTC" option. I've really started thinking about all the wonderful possibilities in XT2 of being a factory for reusable song components etc... and the XTC clips are already leading the way.

But with a render to XTC mode you could translate your drum track into an audio part where all "audio chunks" are still separate - just like with a REX2 file. Moreso, this wouldn't be restricted to the drum track. Just say you have a drum track, a midi track, and a REX2 imported clip. You've made a dynamite loop with this, but you don't really want to use it for the moment, just render to a clip and then pop it away for later.

Some of the options I can think of:

- Expanding the role of the XTC to include more than one track?
- Expanding the role of the XTC so that it can cover folders?
- Rendering to audio part where the individual "chunks" are observed. Ie - each midi trigger = new audio chunk, each drum track trigger = new audio chunk.

For some of the advantages I'm seeing, I'm also seeing problems, but it's a topic I'd like to discuss further if anyone's interested to see if it's viable to flesh out this idea.

It's not an immediate concern as there's too much flakiness in XT2 at the moment that needs to be addressed, but I think XT2 has a real shot at being a loop-master as well as an end-to-end song tool.

I just discovered the other day that rendering not only goes through the track's fader but also through the master-fader which is a major pita!

Audio Pool Folder
- Can there be a default audio pool folder for unsaved projects?

- When I save my project can you automatically make an audio folder for that song

- Could there be some way to make songs self-contained? I get nervous about separating my audio files and my .xt

- If I render, and haven't saved, it might be nice to give a save promt (and setup a default audio folder for me).

Added to list of issues:

J15- Rendering to new track happes after "audio out" faders instead of before. The logic makes sense for render to .wav but not for render to track.

Deleting unused samples

- Prompt showing all unused samples in audio pool with checkboxes next to each sample to delete (from HD) when closing XT. Options to select all (from unused) or select none (default to all selected).

Naming
- Allow for custom fiel name for "rendered to track" .wav
- Allow renaming of files in the Audio pool from browser

+ Yes, I've asked for a similar FR so that linked audio files are created when saving a midi XTC. Would also work as a XTC preview in the browser.

Render to new track
To use the temporary audio folder if a project-specific audio folder has not been created.
[same for Freeze]

+1 to above

I would like to add "Save as wav..." to all clips.
