Dissonance

I use chromatic scales and dissonent intervals a lot.

The only interval my ears dont seem to like is the maj 7th . For this reason I am not a big user of the major scale or any scale step that requires the maj 7th. (I generally flatten the 7th, my preferred scale has always been the mixolydian)

I really dislike that leading tone sound. I dont like the sound of maj 7th chords either, and i never play them.

Conversely I really like the sound of the b5, the 7b5 being my favourite and most played chord type when improvising.

Bob James is now working with a group of chinese musicians who incorporate different temperments in their playing and he is being blown away. None of the chinese musicians can read or write any type of western notation.
