Thanks! yes - if Black bass is a hit I will do more basses - I have quite a lot of sounds i would like to do. And now we have engine - it's just doing the sounds - though it takes a lot of time..

Not only have you inspired me to buy your library but you've also made me want to throw flatwounds on my fretless. How about a nice, growly Musicman Stingray next?

Well - since I don't ever more to mention any trademarked names in my products anymore I can't really tell what bass I used - but if you read manual, foreword etc you may get an idea.

Anyway I own many basses that I like playing on: Fender Precision, Fender Jazz, Alembic, Musicman Bongo, Musicman Sterling, Celinder Aura fretless 5, Celinder PJ 5 and Celinder J Update 5.

I'll might do a picked bass next, but first finger-pick and slap expansion of Black Bass - which is my main axe.

Hi Thomas. Something that I'd like to see would be a bass/bassist sampled to sound as close to Jaco Pastorius as possible. Anyone can own a fretless bass, but nothing that I've heard sounds like Jaco; particularly in the upper range for playing melodies and solos. Many libraries have range limits on the upper end, not accounting
for those of us that want to play bass melodies. Thanks for listening!

I love Jaco. His sound was fantastic - his musicality great.

The notes he played was beautyful - especially on Joni Mitchell albums.
I have a wonderfull celinder aura fretless bass - I must do this one day...and honour jaco perhaps.

One thing is half of Jaco's tone comes from his fingers... I'm not doubting your skill as a bassist whatsoever, I just realize it can be difficult to reproduce people's tones purely through the bass used, when so much of the tone is coming from the fingers, the muting techniques, etc., not to mention the overall soul of playing. There's a video I saw of some kid at a Jaco clinic, who was playing all the Jaco licks and stuff right in front of Jaco. But then Jaco would just repeat the same lines, but there was a world of difference just from the overall soul and intention in his playing. Even on Modern Electric Bassist where Jaco plays his fretted bass you can still tell it's him. I heard Victor Wooten play on some completely random bass, it was like a P-bass or something, and it still was immediately recognizable as being Victor.

Likewise, when I let other people play on my bass they just get a different tone out of it. I guess it's just all those tiny factors in personal style that add up to contribute to tone.

But yes, a Jaco library, although very specific, would be great! After all, he's unquestionably one of the most influential bassists in history.

I agree with you on people making their own sound, but you can approach the overall sound, not the feeling of course.
Hence the Amplitube Jimi Edition, you can be very close of the Hendrix sounds, except you don't have his fingers and feeling...
Kinf of stating the obvious, isn't it ?

But a library with the "almost" Pasto sound will be enough for me, I never have been satisfied by the tone of others.
Maybe except the Trilogy one, which has a real nice roundness, but with a little too much compression, IMHO. Perfect to play "Chicken", "Come On" kind of tunes, but "too heavy" for slower tunes, when it's not about groove, but "singing bass"...

And you don't have the K2 Scarbee engine with it, and that (also) makes the difference, when you just have to play, and not program, legato part here, bends there, oops need a slide, etc.
Virtual instruments are now in a new era, where playability will be as important as sound quality, thanks to the incredible power of some players.

And speaking about specific, I've always dreamed about a true Chapman Stick library...

And his soul. the guy had soul...

I remember a Jeff Berlin video - where he and Jaco plays together. It's in the last years of his life and he is just a shadow of himeself. Then they play this duet - first jaco plays the chords and Jeff plays solo in his own way - lots of notes and intelligent ones too.
Then it's time for jaco to play solo - he chooses to play some slided chords - just a few notes..
But god - those notes were so full of beauty and emotions. His fragile soul was singing though his fingers.

I never met him - closest was when I was taking lessons from a bass player - and phone called - it was Jaco there - calling his friend from Japan.

If I do a fretless - I will try at least create an instrument that can sing your soul out. What you choose to sing - will be your talent and magic - and story.
I HAVE a fretless - the best fretless I ever tried - just touch it and it makes that mwaaaaaa.

Time for bed now..I'll probably be hearing those crying chords tonight.

BTW, really nice Kontakt programming. This is a very inspiring library to work with, and it sounds fantastic with a litte cabinet
added in with convolution... and a tiny little bit of room reverb...

Is it possible to load the samples in Kontakt player 2?

I own GPO and JABB which works with Kontakt player 2.

I really want Scarbee Black Bass but I dont want to buy kontakt...
