Theoretically my connection speed here (at work) is way faster than my home DSL. Unfortunately, theory and practice ain't the same thing. And something in the config here disallows tracks on KVR from streaming, I have to wait for the whole download for it to start playing.rsmus7 wrote:well here on my DSL it's dl'ed in no timeemdot_ambient wrote:"...about 18 minutes long..." And you wonder why you get a lot of views and only a few comments?

i'm hearing parts "skip" as if one instance of guru isn't keeping up with the others when at the end or beginning of the bar. and not sure what is going on, but there are definitely some "hang ups" and beats getting off here and there.
sounds like you're having fun though!

Wow! 24MB???
I'm listening to it. Well, let's see:
I'm in no means an expert, but simply someone that likes electronic 4x4 stuff. Your tune sounds to me more like a megamix, what is indeed what you seemed do achieve. But I think there's some elements that sounds off-beat, and really doesn't work well. Also, the volume variations in your beats is something a little annoying, and doesn't sounds good, at least to me.
However, I see various good parts that could be improved and re-arranged, in order to have a song. So, if your question is "does it work on a live situation?", I'd answer: "yes, but the offbeats would start to annoy the dancers, at certain moments".
Sorry if this is a negative comment, but I think we all can grow with construtive criticism.

i thinks its a very unfriendly song. its just too uncomfortable to the ears. i try to be honest and this song would never see a club floor. its more a noise project then anything
edit: im your freind rsmus7 and i love your synth1 work so i would never try to hurt your feelings

Same here I'm afraid.
I think you've got a few different tracks here and each would probably work well if they were developed individually.
But the mix between parts is frustrating with the offbeats. If a DJ mixed like that down the club, he'd probably be boo'd off.

I see what you're trying to do and where you're coming from but (IMO) it doesn't work too well as a single file mix and would heartily suggest trying to seperate the pieces into individual pieces as I like most of the parts, just not too keen on it as a whole.

I really dig this constructive criticism
thanks for you listening and taking time to comment
I can understand all the comments,
and the more I listen myself, the more I understand,
it is a mixture of differnt parts, and the offbeat is really putting ya off
I will try to do a new and better mix,
maybe change some of the loops I used and see how that will work.
@ dark virus
I didn't want to make a song,it was more a practice,
but I agree with you itz can be much improved.

I don't know..
I actually love the element of chaos and whim in there, syncing issues and all.
While it certainly lacks focus, I don't miss it.
It's a whirl of colours and textures with plenty of suction.

There's something about the overall sound/mix that's somehow extremely unpleasant for my ears - meaning that it's uncomfortable to listen to. Can't quite put my finger on it, though...but I couldn't listen it for very long.

Well - and sorry for the late reply - I still don't really know. The midrange just seems to cause instant ear fatigue, though now listening at home with a different pair of headphones (AKG K240s, last time with AKG K66s) it's not quite so prominent an effect. Same thing through my monitors (Genelec 8020As). Sorry I can't break it down more...

So much to say. . .
1) The skipping/sync issues are very annoying. Fix those and you'll get totally different reactions from people.
2) It does sound good enough, in some places, that it wouldn't sound out of place at a club. Around 9:25, for example. But then at 9:34 the skipping occurs again and it's just very disturbing. Something was wrong with your computer when you recorded this, I'm thinking. Time to run a virus scan! Try HiJackThis (freeware) to quickly see what's going on.
3) The beat is fast enough that it could be a trance tune, but it sounds like you're trying to make an ambient or down-tempo song out of it!
4) As already stated, the song lacks focus and excitement, and at 18 minutes long, that's unforgivable, I'm afraid. Condense it all into 4 minutes!
5) Loudness is too low. You can raise the volume on this several dB's and still not experience any audible clipping.
Don't give up! This is a promising start! Figure out what's causing the skipping and try again. Making dance music is fun once you figure out how to do it. This is not to say that I have figured it out, mind you, but I'm having fun learning!
