i'll be using this for the drop down folder feature. it's a breeze to change out samples of the same type to build the perfect kit

'MIDI Note Generator'(MNG) is very useful for pitching the drum sounds (I also use it for adjusting the balance of the whole kit by soloing all the channels). Host program determines the tempo of the generated pulses. The pace of the pulses can be changed via a pop-up which appears if MNG button is [Ctrl]+clicked.androidlove wrote:i'll be using this for the drop down folder feature. it's a breeze to change out samples of the same type to build the perfect kit

Hi S.HUSH,S.HUSH wrote:Well as i stated, i am on Live 5.2 and EnergyXT. Could be a host(s) thing.
Nice plug btw!
I told about this problem to the third-party modules developer and here's his reply:
Hi Max,
I just tried Dr. Modus in Live Lite 5.2 and Energy XT, and had no problems. Maybe I misunderstood what the users were talking about in the KVR forum, but the impression I got is that they get an error message about not being able to load the file when they try to use a .wav file from a location other than your default directories. Here, I am able to load .wav files from directories at different locations, and they play fine with no error messages. Please let me know if I have not understood the problem correctly.
Could it be the files themselves, rather than their location? Are the users trying to load .mp3 or other types of audio files besides .wavs? If there are specific .wav files that will not load, I'd like to get copies of a couple of them so I can see what might be different about them. As far as I know, DH_WavePlayer2+ will load and play any properly formatted 16 or 24-bit stereo or mono PCM WAVE file.
So it's not a host(s) thing

Pretty useful plugin, actually i'm using it quite a lot with 3rd party sample packs. Vera's gui is the usual plus to usability and look.
Just my couple wishes about it:
- A remember path option. For example when i'm tweaking a preset and pointing every trimmer to my samples, i have to choose always starting from default Dr Modus sample folder. Sometimes i've found this a bit long. So perhaps something that when I click on the folder, whatever folder, it opens my last path would be cool
- This is perhaps too much, but a little parametric eq per wav would be great. But of course this is an expensive feature work-wise, so it is just a remote wish
Overall I found it very very simple and fun to use. Congrats.

With Live 5.2, i can load a sample into a drum 'channel' but i cannot select other samples within the folder using the left/right preview buttons. SO if i load a kick sample, say for example, "KICKsample001", Modus will only play "KICKsample001" even if i try selecting other samples within the folder (which contains at least 80 samples).
With Energy XT2, it seems to be working now, however in order to get the sample scanning to work, i have to load a couple samples from within any given folder to get Modus to "read" the samples within that folder (meaning Modus will display the appropriate name of the sample and allow me to preview using the left/right buttons.
Another thing i notice with BOTH hosts is when i click to view the pull down menu displaying all the samples within the folder, it only displays about 60 samples at most (as mentioned earlier, i have anywhere from 80 to 200 samples within a folder). Is there a limit as to the amount of samples Modus can read within a folder?
As for the ADSR envelope, the ATTACK doesn't seem to work properly. I notice only if i set a short RELEASE setting, the ATTACK seems to work.
DECAY and SUSTAIN don't do anything when i attempt any settings.
Let me know if there's more info needed and/or anything else i can do to help. This plug has been on many peoples' wish list (including mine) so it would be great to have it function 100% for as many users as possible.

Every drum slot does remember the last folder per patch.
So if you want some folder paths to appear in another preset just save a *.fxp file and then open it in a new preset.
The equalizer is not expensive but CPU consuming. It's more reasonable to prepare a sample with the required frequency characteristics in some audio editor and then load it into the sampler. And, I guess, hosts usually have equalizers in their mixers, e.g. Cubase. (Moreover, with such a host Pan and Volume parameters are not necessary too, because they all can be found in the mixer).
And thank you for mentioning Vera!
Regards,
Max

I don't have these host programs so I'm going to pass this part of your message to the third-party modules developer.S.HUSH wrote:

Not samples but characters. I'm afraid the limit is one thousand characters.Another thing i notice with BOTH hosts is when i click to view the pull down menu displaying all the samples within the folder, it only displays about 60 samples at most (as mentioned earlier, i have anywhere from 80 to 200 samples within a folder). Drum sounds are too short to hear the effect of ADSR. That's why there are two modes: Decay (for drum sounds) and ADSR (if anyone wants to use longer samples). Load 'Tin Lid' sample from 'miscellaneous' folder and try to tweak ADSR envelope. I'm sure you'll hear it working. As for the ADSR envelope, the ATTACK doesn't seem to work properly. I notice only if i set a short RELEASE setting, the ATTACK seems to work.

Hi kai_yak,kai_yak wrote:About the velocity layer. Would it be possible to have something like a LM4 text file that would load all the layers without having to convert to soundfont.
I don't know a module available for SynthEdit which would load many wav files as multiple layers. If there were one I would definitely tried to use it. Dr.Modus uses eight DH_Waveplayers for each drum slot. DH_Waveplayer can load one stereo/mono, 16/24-bit wav file at a time. Velocity level determines how loud the sampled is played back. Different velocity level doesn't trigger different sample. Here's an example (you can find it inside 'mp3 examples' folder bundled to Dr.Modus) where the snare drum of a lower velocity level was loaded into another drum slot and set to respond to a different MIDI key.
Thanks for telling about LM4.

Just to drop in my little opinion, I've got most of the major commercial drum software modules for PC and I must say That Dr. Modus is on the same level with all of them on sound quality and even better than some (won't name any names). Thanx for your work

Hi mbregs
I love the Gui of Vera Kintner too. Very fine work !!
And the very "easy" but logic workaround
Are expansions perhaps still planned in the direction
of effects or broader Edit possibilities?
kind greetings. NEK

Hi NEK,
Thank you. Yes, Vera has done a great job, hasn't she?
Now I'm trying to reduce the size of the plugin by rebuilding particular parts, trying alternative combinations of modules, comparing their size and CPU consumption.
What effects and Edit possibilities do you mean?
Can't an effect, e.g. reverb or delay, be applied separately in the host program, can it?
Could you speak a bit more about 'broader Edit possibilities'?

Hi Max.
Effects is perhaps the wrong word
Mine are what me additional sound forming functions,
such as filter, bit-crusher etc..
Please don't misunderstand me.
I find your Plugin very good like it is now.
I thought only a couple of additional expansions would make it
perhaps even "better"
I am not a supporter of too nested programs either, though.
I like definitely the direct and open manner at Dr. Modus.
Furthermore glad creating.

Well, its structure is already too big and I had to refuse from some of the functions to improve the performance. Some of the removed ones are:NEK-X wrote:Hi Max.

I was even about to remove Pan and Volume knobs because these parameters can be found in every host's mixer!!!
