has anybody tried the WaveTracer ? [ Kx-Modulad]

cheers bobsled;
how can you select just 1 waveform and turn the others(WF1+WF2) off? so i can hear my new creation.

I've been working with the Init. patches and building from there. Toward the top of the VCO1-2 section you will find gain dials for SUB, then in two section just above the dials in this section
you will find gain dials for VCF1 and VCF2.
I'm feeling my way just like you.
Having fun yet?

thanks, but i'm gonna have to give it a rest,i've not much time,it's too hard for my small brain....i'll try again another time.
clever stuff though,nice work.

I'm just reading my code, I found one path bug...
In fact, the kxwavetracer cannot work if your KXDATAS folder is on another disk than C: !!!
I use a fixed path in the kxwavetracer code...
I will update my plugin and the kxwavetracer this week, I hope.
Spacedad : if you use a c: disk. You can download the zip file on my site and replace your KXDATAS folder on the root of your c: disk.
If you use the good paths you will not have problems.

Good news!
I updated the kx-Modulad and the KxWaveTracer.exe program.
Now the kxwavetracer works fine when you place the KXDATAS folder on another path than "C:\"
The new files are available on my site : http://kx77free.free.fr

cool.
btw,i figured how to isolate just one 'wave tracer wave',load it in to the sub1 slot, then change all the other vco's to number 255(or which ever is still empty).then you can hear just your loverly new wave(or wave from hell,as in my case!
well that's how i did it anyway, cos i couldn't find the individual volumes for vco's.

Hi,
The Sub wave uses the same lookuptable index than the waveforms!
The sub wave uses the same number of harmonics than the current waveforms 1 & 2 !
If you use the Sub with inferior range, the Sub brightness is less than the waveforms...
To listen a result of the KxWaveTracer.exe, you should listen the wave with a waveform output (wf1 or wf2).
Oscillator parameters:
1-2 is the mix between the WF1 and the WF2.
Sub is the mix between the Sub and the 1-2 waveforms.
e.g.:
If you want listen only the Sub, set Sub at max.
If you want listen only the wf1, set Sub at min and adjust 1-2 to the left.
etc...
Mixer parameters:
The main output (WF1+WF2+SUB) is called 1-2.
eg: the Vco1 main output is called Vco1 1-2 .
The second output is called Width.
eg: the Vco1 second output is called Vco1 Width .
e.g: adjust the level of the 1-2 source to Vcfs or Vca...
Mixer features:
It has 6 sources: Noise, Vco1 1-2, Vco2 1-2, Ring, Vco1 Width, Vco2 width
and three destinations: Vcf1, Vcf2, Vca.
Each source can modulate the three destinations !
The Noise has an EQ.
You can mute the vca output with the vca switch but this output is always active in the Fx section.
All mixer voices can be modulated by the Envelope Generators and the Lfos.
*****
Why ?
In a classic oscillator, we obtain a PW signal with a mix of a saw waveform
and a saw waveform inverted.
If you use a saw waveform with the WF1 and a saw waveform with the WF2,
the Width output will be a perfect PW signal and you could adjust the width
with the Width parameter.
In fact, the WF2 signal is inverted and added to the WF1 signal...
and the " Width " parameter is an adjustment of the WF2 phase.
The " Phase " parameter is a global phase adjustment, it controls the phase of the two waveforms (1-2).
The Sub phase is not affected by these two parameters, "Phase" and " Width"!
*****
I hope that help you...
The Kx-Modulad is a tool for sound designers and I think that the user can learn its features, I hope.

thanks for the tips,i'm sure i did try that and the sounds were still coming through.but maybe i'd messed with the mixer settings.kx77free wrote:e.g.:

i'm not an analogue expert(though i have a korgms20),so some of it is unfamiliar, but that's part of the fun.i keep being drawn back into it,it's pretty deep.i'd like to hear some more modular freaks give their opinions.

Thanks for the additional infos, Xavier.
I also keep playing with this synth, including the Wavetracer feature. If I can start to figure some of it out (which is easier after the latest bug fixes), then some real sound designers should be able to jump in.
Again, I'd love to be able to download some new patches for the KX Modulad.
