in my *utter* ignorance: can anyone point to any tunes that would have inspired Rastabox? I think it's really cool but can't really place it's sound in any dub stuff i'm familiar with...

I am a Drum&Bass producer and my idea for Rastabox came from the sounds of the early pioneers of dub such as Lee "scratch" Perry and King Tubby. As for dnb, it's producers such as Sky FX, T Power, Digital Soundboy that inspired me... Many works by these artist feature electronic noises made from homemade "dub sirens"...

seriously, how difficult would it be to implement a sync-to-host option in a future release of this plug?
if Rastabox did that, i would use this thing in all kinds of tracks.. i might even be willing to donate a few $$$ as well

Sorry Bailees... I didn't mean to ignore you... I will be looking at host-sync.. I'm not sure I'll have for the contest, but I'll see if I can... Even if I did add it now, I'm not sure if tuz would let me...

dover... That song sounds cool... Eventhough I made Rastabox mainly for dnb, it will sound fat for most styles....

Hope this isn't considered thread hijacking but I'd really like to use Rastabox in my live-setup (I'm a keyboarder in a Reggae/Dub band) but I simply cannot get it working in Sensomusic Usine which is my main host. When I drop it in Usine's workspace it doesn't show up. Emailed Sensomusic about it but no reply yet. Works in every other host I've tried. Lithium, if you could take a look at this, I really appreciate it.
There's a free version of Usine http://www.sensomusic.com/download/
Thanks.

cheers dreaddd,

if only that were possible; crap metal cover bands i could see every night of the week around these parts but a decent soundsystem... no chance.dreaddd wrote:or just go out and catch a serious dub soundsystem playing around somewhere near you

no_use - i've heard from other developers that usine has some compatability issues.. no clue, but these problems are probably better for synthmaker than rastabox :p probably the sm user list would know of issues if there were much that could be done.
bailees - there are a lot of other plugs that include the functionality here and add host sync features.. probably synth1.

while i love synth1 and have made some great screams with her, i like Rastabox because you open an instance and you already have sirens and wails at your finger tips with little to no tweaking. its ideal when you want that kind of sound straight out of the box.. but thanks for the suggestion, just the same..
and Lithium: its cool, man.. just giving you and other KVRers a hard time.
i completely understand if you are not able to get a sync-to-host implemented until after the DC 07.. i appreciate your quick response in this matter, though, and i hope you do in the future.
great plug!
