Just downloaded, they sound nice - very useable! Tight, dry and funky as advertised. :)

A couple things:
1) Including tempos would be good, as the loops aren't Acidized.
2) I see a bunch of ReaPeaks files in with the loops. These were just accidentally included I take it? (I'm a Reaper user actually)

Thanks again, good stuff - if I make a song with them I'll definitely let you know!

Post

oh yeah I used reaper to make the demos. It must have left some stuff in the folder. I'll have to clean it out :)

I thought about adding tempo info, it would be handy. I would like to rex them as well. I didn't think anyone would care if they were acidized. I think I can do that.

thanks for the compliments!

I'll be waiting for a song.

There's a great touch to the way these loops are played.

Sensitive yet with presence, and an original take on things I might have heard before.

Very good. Delicious 8)

But he knows what kinda sound he's looking for !

boy tourette

DW's hesitant engineer.

Are ya all curious which mics we pulled out for these sessions?

I've updated the site with some pictures of the recording session.

You can see the noise reduction "boxes" that Spinner Studio built. I don't know the specs on them or anything, but boy tourette can expand on them.

check them at the bottom of the pate here

meant to bump this early this week, but looks like the thread is getting some visibility! Hope you are selling a bunch, dw. This is a baddd assssss set. I'm abusing the funkiness already (...since I canNOT leave well enough alone  :D )
seriously- Kudos to you and all those folk that worked on this set! (I'm guessing there may be more to come ? :hyper: )

This set is so cheap, there must be a suspicion in people's minds that it's nothing special. Well, wuh-rong ... it's a steal at this price.

The demos are very reflective of the quality. And because the recording is so clean, you can always dust on a bit of 'fluff on the needle' and crackle, with a little compression, and end up with some really kick-ass sounds, if that is your preference.

Personally, I think the level of detail captured in the recording process is so good, it's a shame to do anything but 'play it loud.' 8)

blortblort- Firstly I must thank you for the kind words regarding out product. I would love to hear your funk abuse :D

To answer your question, yes there is more planned.

Thanks funky :D

Dusted William Sounds is a brand new company with no brand name recognition. Hence the price was set low to get some exposure and customers. As you have realized, the price doesn't reflect the quality at all, and I thank you for letting others know how you feel.

Now for a little more info:

Originally it was my idea to have a loop library that would be the same as if someone was crate digging and came across some old funky records. That means no tempo info, no recycle, no acidization. This is how I'm used to sampling my beats. Of course the beats are cleaner, but you can add whatever dirt you want :)

However this is the year 2007, so we do plan an update. All the loops will be set with some sort of tempo info in the file name or folder, be converted to rex and maybe acidized (I haven't decided if that was important enough or not) So that means our loops will be usable in Stylus RMX, Reason, and all the others that use .rex files.

We have also booked more time in the studio and will provide more loops. the same engineer, the same drummer, the same mics, the same everything.

This will all be free to existing users. The intro offer is still on, but when the new pack comes out the price will jump. We're not sure how much yet, but it will jump at least 30 more dollars. If you're on the fence, just Go FoR IT!! Anyone who buys the pack before the update will get the update for free.

Thanks,

dw

Sounds great DW! :-)

I don't think you need to Acidize or REX, that can be done as needed by the user. But offering the tempo in the filename would be a big help, and a simple thing to implement.

Of course from a commercial standpoint it looks better on paper to say "Includes Wav, Acid, Rex etc..." when trying to justify a substantially higher price. Personally I believe they're worth the money regardless, but I am not the marketplace...
