The appeal isn't in the number of effects you can have available at a given time, it's in which effects you can have. For instance, if you want to try the Bass Overdrive with a Univibe followed by one of the amps from "AT2 regular" with a cab from AT2 Metal you'll need to open four different plugins. It's obviously more convenient to have it all done in one.

Compyfox wrote:The biggest Ripoff that IKM pulled so far was the Amplitube2Duo. That shit costs 199USD(!) and you only get 2 Amps, 2 Cabinets, 2 mics, 1 Stompbox and Wah Pedal and nothing else.
???? I thought Amplitube2Duo was a product that is bundled with other stuff not for sale on it's own...
I swear it was listed the other week on their page with price and shit. It's not even freeware! Though it has an own page: http://www.amplitube.com/Main.html?prod_ATDUO.php

Still a ripoff though for what you can "get" with Amplitube 2 Live (though a stand-alone plug):
http://www.stealthplug.com/Main.php?prod-SP.php
And that for 129USD (excl. VAT)

Duh! :x

Yeah...that 100 bucks sucks and quite honestly the Jimi edition has pretty much everything I need.

Of course, I probably won't be able to control the urge to buy it

I'm sure it'll be heavily discounted with crossgrade and retail pricing. It's not something I'll ever need, so I'm not personally concerned. However, I do agree that unless there's some really whiz-bang technology involved in this thing (i.e. Chainer is only $60 and would easily accomplish the same thing) they should bundle it free if you own 2 or more of the AT2 products.

What's the deal with ATMetal? I didn't see a price. Anyone pick that up?

IK stuff is indeed expensive as hell. Its all top shelf though, that is for sure. I am about to get their FX bundle because I'm in love with CSR and Ampeg as much as I am with Amplitube. Unfortunately, their pricing is such that I will absolutely NOT be able to add JimiHendrix or metal edition under any circumstances. The price for the FX bundle is already a hefty bit of coin for me. They really ought to consider lower prices. Their products are so good and people that value it pay for it, but I feel that a lot of other people would buy their stuff if they lowered the prices just a bit...and they would make just as much money but make more people happier. I for one, would love it if they provided expansions to the original Amplitube, rather than forcing me to buy a completely seperate standalone product such as the Jimi or metal edition..and then another $100 for something to host a jimi pedal together with a metal amp. Cmon. Its simply not justifyable for my budget...ever. But I am gonig to use the hell out of the FX pack as soon as I can save up the dough.

Yes, it will be released within 2007 :)

I will start now taking bets :)

The number of people who complained about GearboxVST's price and then praised and praised IKMM should be eating their words about now. This is the biggest ripoff strategy I've ever seen in the amp sim world.

No chainer for Mac OSX....that's the market...and ....what you really get with this, like you said is the ability to pull out effects from one, amps from another and cabs from another. Would Chainer do that?

As a FREE tool, the idea would have been AWESOME! And that is what I thought at the beginning because of IKMM generous nature (remember the removal of the dongle?)

The only way I am ready to accept even the existence of such a non free tool is that if IKMM make, through a future upgrade, their stand-alone Amplitube2 MIDI controllable. No one should pay for such a feature when all the other ampsims have it out of the box.

The chaining stuff and the rest it is up to one to decide if it is of any value.

Shouldnt the amps and stomps of METAL be in AMPLITUBE 2 anyway? :x
This is what i bought AMPLITUBE 2 for in the first place... :?

Gearbox is darn cheap for what you get for in the basic pack. It was only a ripoff to ask 199USD for a Wrapper to use it as VST plugin, if it's a VST plugin already (the sounddesign is all handled by the PC CPU, except for the PodXT), and the packs are still a bit expensive.

Then again, alltogether it's the same as Amplitube 2 Full, but with three times the ammount of amps and cabinets (incl. a DI/recording box). Just not that flexible in terms of routing and microphone placement.

So yup, I agree with you there. Though I never bitched aboutthe price for GearBox - I was patient and went for the deals, and still are, caus I know there might be new deals around X-mas.

Oh sure, you're bitchin' now but when they come out with "Amplitube 2: The Lunch Money Edition" you'll be singin' a different tune

I dunno, I feel like this stuff should be available as upgrades to AT2 at a reduced cost but they all have a lower price point than the full version so for some people, it's great.

I'm sure I'll be buying the ATLME ;-)

definitely. Its pretty discouraging to spend $399 for a guitar sim product...then find out that incremental updates such as new amps and pedals can only be obtained by buying completely new editions(albiet, at a cheaper crossgrade price, but still...not cheap).

Frankly, when I spend so much for a guitar sim, I sorta expect for there to be some reasonably priced incremental updates....small new features added, new pedals, new amps, etc.. This whole JH edition vs original vs the new metal edition, is ridiculous. Most people would want all the models, but I doubt would want to pony up the serious coin it costs to have them all. IK is using a bad pricing model IMHO. I don't know why they have decided to work that way. It promotes more piracy and discourages brand loyalty by legitimate customers.

However all that being said, I am still in love with CSR, Ampeg and AT2. I definitely intend to get their FX bundle. But price wise, its a stretch for me and the way they have things priced, I absolutely will never be able to consider any of these other add ons from there. None of them. Ever. I will drool over them though.
