Congrats all-
since last year, the competition has leaped in huge strides towards... well, whatever it's striding towards. Perfection? Yes. Something like that-
Thanks to all the developers (personally, I'm happy to see compressive made it into the top ten - it should've been higher).
Cheers,
M@

pretty sad out of 41 entries, only 4 supported mac and linux. it does say a lot about the developer scene.

Hi :)

Congratulations also to Xoxos :tu:
many thanks at tuz and Ben
And natural to everyone they have voted :)

Unfortunately, I couldn't try out all Plugins
on my "little" Win-Me computer :(

Is but so much for certain:
I take part the next challenge again :hihi:

Kind greetings to everyone.

...Have fun ...

PS @ LlukaX: perhaps it lies to this:
SE and Synthmaker only under Windows run? ;)

I think ultimately with the developer scene, it comes down to this:
Most (if not all) developers that entered this year are free-time/weekend audio software devs. Conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and debugging honest-to-god source code is NOT a super easy or cheap thing to do, especially not on non-Windows platforms. Thus, it's not something us devs can devote a particular lot of time to without being payed. Granted the point of this competition was to literally give our work away, but that still doesn't remove the fact that it does take time to make this stuff, time that for some may have otherwise been spent at work or other profitable ventures.

So ultimately: While I respect where you're coming from, don't forget to appreciate what ya got already. ;)

I think it is just about
1)the way the plugins were assembled or coded .
2)the philosophy developers are into (there is yet some free plugins on Mac and even some which are cross platform , so i don't think "giving away for free" is a problem for everyone )
3)And last not least 90 % of the freeware plugin come from the PC world ,70% of the payware plugins are only PC so it is also a demographic problem ..
Anyway the best example showing it was not the problem is that mucoder's hypercyclic runs on three platforms .And btw about the "us developer" there is countless music softwares that were disigned on windows only , think Samplitude , Audition , Soundforge , Fl studio they are not apart from the respectable "us developer" maybe ? :hihi:

Hey guys, you all made valid points. My personal experience : currently it still is way more expensive and less comfortable to go X-platform, so I can understand Chris' remark. But not impossible, as long as you are willing to learn C++ and check out the fine x-platform libs (e.g. Juce, Infinity). The reward is that you probably reach about 25% more people than PC-only and that number might be growing. That's my motivation at least, there's no other philosophy or religion behind it...

btw, imho the real breakthrough would be for the Synthedits of this world to support all platforms. Now, wouldn't THAT be a killer idea for the next DC? :D

I like your positive attitude! A lot of people are also asking for a SynthMaker x Mac or that can simply export to .au !!! :)

Congrats to all the winners!
Especially xoxos, your Oscine Tract is one of my favorite synths in the comp!
I knew I didnt stand a chance this year, but it was all in fun :)
I'm just glad I got to be a part of it!

Hi Jack R, Wavtransit was one of the most interesting plugs this year and it was one of the candidates for the top spot in my book. It certainly deserved a much higher ranking. Had a lot of fun with it already and it will stay in my toolbox for sure.

Well done everyone involved :D The results also are very similar to my own votings.
I also subscribe to that there should be more x-platform plugins next year, maybe (*shock*) make it even a parameter that at least two platforms need to be supported to be able to enter the contest :)

Just some cents from me ;)

"Congrats" also to tuz and Ben.

I don't think IMHO this will be fair the fact that a plugin is one platform only doesn't affect its quality ..Maybe some bonus extra point but not much ..

?! i thought otherwise..

a few things i've been keeping to myself :p

the only sm plug that worked reliably for me was rastabox. win xp sp2 dual 2 :p i think bagels worked briefly and went down after a few patch changes.

i didn't vote tho :)

re: modulad..

it's been killing me watching your feedback, and i didn't want to say anything to influence events.

i kept my literature extremely brief because i figured that most people would spend a few minutes at tops on each entry. if anyone had questions, they could post the inquiry and create attention for it ;) as misguided as i may be, i do this to change culture :p so i recognise the calibre of your contribution even though i myself spent little more time with it than auditioning patches. i tell myself i'll make music next year :p

i was fairly surprised at some of the rankings.. didn't try kable (won't install my midi port on this box until i have to) but seemed useful. speak & pluck was one of my favourites as well. i was impressed by how close it sounded to a real bent s&s.

+ ugo - when my framework for breathcube2 + associated f/w is together you can expect a pm ;)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

I never said that this would be about quality. For me it'd be about reaching more users, having the win-only stuff for other platforms and vice-versa.
Of course this could also turn out to be of opposite effect and we'll end up with just 4 or five plugins ;)
Like said, just thinking out loudly, FWIW.

Cool, I look forward to hearing what you have in mind. :)
Congratulations once again on the win. After all you have contributed to the community over the years, its great to see you get this...and so well deserved too. Sounds of Nature was an excellent idea that was wonderfully executed. :hail:

Congratulations to xoxos and all the other entrants in the DC. We are not worthy! 8)
