Me too. See, this one has this really cool vocal, but me with no mic and no resources. I need to con some local into something. It needs a horn or guitar solo, and I am not going to mess with it, I'm too close.

The band I lived with and recorded with a couple of times were on Cuneiform. PFS, formed from remnants of Cartoon. This came out of a DX7 patch of mine.

Guy Segers bassist formerly of Univers Zero (on Cuneiform) overdubbed bass onto a couple of our made up on the spot jams, put 'em on Bandcamp. Kind of off the wall to see that.
Gary Parra d. 2016 RIP. He was only a couple of years older than me.

I don't even know if there was sound design. 2007? JFC. This was like my second track in Cubase. The words and riffs are 2006, woke up with the rhymes, scribbled 'em on something in a Jack In the Box fueled by their submediocre coffee.
This is a mix.

Just gonna say that I loved listening...and have now done so quite a few times...once up in my studio adding unimpressive synth improvs!

Thank you. One big thing I learned with that first album was narrowing width for individual instruments. I'd acquired Vienna Suite with its Power Panner, which preserves the given stereo area; unlike the usual pan pot, which just turn down the volume for the remaining field.
Two or three of the instruments go back to Kontakt 2 if not Kontakt 1.5 and they had to be sternly dealt with. CJ ranked on the original bass, one of them I liked to use was really cheap. I remember laying down the truncated (9 vs 12 beats) Delta blues pattern, the bass was off of the Roland handpad. I started thinking I'd lay it down live once and get a decent groove and "groove quantize" it so as to apply it to new parts. This is not all it's cracked up to be, it came across as overtly programmed. So I reckoned I had to perform it anew for the rest.

When I made this originally it was in the first year of returning to life after some 15 yrs comfortably numb, and I had a special sort of amnesia at first; I struggled to identify what I hear in terms of intervals or even what the tonic really is. I remember clearly, I wanted to transcribe the X Files title music and I had no clue.
So I limited myself to simple ideas, a kind of minimalism. Minor pentatonic rules OK.

How odd.
I haven't checked No Location out in a long time, other than a couple of things. 2009-2010 is a lifetime ago.
I think Ray Dio Act-IF is still pretty compelling. I got an amazing contribution from Chris Alpiar for $100, essential ever since.
