Consider this:

if roland ever made a 809, don't you think that just by being in the same series, and probably with a lot in common with the 808 and 909, it would have been a legend in the scene today?

according to "the complete synthesizer" and "Sound Synthesis And Sampling - 2nd Edition" there is no such thing as a 809, but i'll be happy you prove me wrong with some pics/links/manual

I got word from Roland that the TR-809 was a ProtoType Drum Machine that was never released to the Public. Roland also said that they are aware of some owners swapping in/out internals from various Drum Machines from the TR Series. Such as the TR-808 and TR-909 combined to form a Combo Drum Machine. They said this is Fine for personal use as long as they are not resold as a double Unit being renamed something else, which would be a Copyright infringement and also illegal.

not "illegal", as it isnt criminal. they'll have to sue you in order to prevent you from continuing your actions, and could potentially collect damages if they could show that you have cost them money in some way. this isnt likely, so ultimately the worst that could happen would be you would end up being forced to stop using the infringing name.

DR008 offers 32-bit internal processing and the ability to load samples of up to 32-bit/96kHz. There are also loads of presets on offer (190 in all) for the synth modules. Presets have been sourced from instruments including the CR78, TR606, TR808, TR809
