Yeah, do you produce music on your PC? Did that cost more than a TR909? Will it be *really* cheap later? Sure. Apples to oranges, all around - no pun intended. Some technology doesn't retain its value. Thank you Captain Obvious. I don't hate the iPhone, but I don't have one because I don't need what it provides and the feature set isn't a fit for me at the moment.dirty oscillators wrote:in 3 years it will be *really* cheap as technology moves foward and the TR-909 will have still retained it's value.Muzik 4 Machines wrote:it's pretty cheap phone+mp3 player+ portable web/ebook and pretty much a small pc in your pocket, for only 400$

i'm waiting for the new model so I can use it with my carrier without switching to Rogers
for me it's a bargain, it'll replace my cell, ipod and laptop all around the house for simple web browsing/vnc'ing into my machines
and as a bonus it will serve as a 909, and who knows what other nice apps will get out, in mini touch live rig (kaossilator, koass pad 2 3 and mini, soon to be a DS(ds10 and the sequencer) and soon to be an iphone as a 909)

1) my computer cost me less than $300. i use mainly for recording two track stereo and performing post recording edits and cuts.
2) i got my cell phone for $16 brand new. it does the job well.
i probably shouldn't feed you (calling me a name that starts with "Captain" was the first clue as to your status on here) but i feel the need put this in perspective: you're the one talking about running a little toy drum machine software program on your phone, Captain Tool.

Learn to read, I don't have an iPhone. I'll repeat that if you are too slow to get it. I was just commenting on the slagging of the iPhone here. It doesn't fit my needs at the moment, but I don't gripe about it to people who do use it, like it, etc.
You're very special and got a great deal on your computer and cell phone, congrats. Someday you might grow up and not be jealous of the adults who can afford to buy things you don't like. Keep saving for your TR909, Ensign Toolbox.
"Captain Obvious" is a common term used for someone stating the obvious, sorry it may not be common in your experience, etc, don't know how universal it is. Glad it stuck in your craw though, made me smile.

When reading/writing "fanbois" - do you actually pronounce it in a french manner: "fan-bo-ah" (i think thats how it goes as far as i recall)?
As a side note: it's like those chinese symbol tattoos - if it ever was cool, it aint any longer.

i didn't slag anything Steve. i make a comment about NOT buying into brand new technology because it goes down in value very quickly. within minutes you're defensive and calling names like a five year old does.buscemi wrote:Learn to read, I don't have one. you're very special to have gotten your fancy schmancy phone that folds your laundry and does your dishes for free. i could give two shits. i don't want one. i've *never* been interested in cell phones with cameras. i come from the school of thought like this: buy your components separately because if you don't the quality goes to shit.
so why would i be jealous if i don't want one? that makes no sense just like you're babyish defensive reply to my comment about technology rapidly losing value.
i'm sorry, Captain Obvious is a common term used on forums where people talk about playing games on their cell phones?

Ha, good question - should be fanboys in pronunciation but I like the French take on it. And, if you there's any insuation because I started this thread please note that I do not own an iPhone it was just posted for those who do and folks showing positive response (possible fanboisiers?) to this got trolled early on.Penis Arcade wrote:When reading/writing "fanbois" - do you actually pronounce it in a french manner: "fan-bo-ah" (i think thats how it goes as far as i recall)?

Not being defensive, I called you Captain Obvious because you were using faulty logic by stating the obvious but in a totally irrelevant manner. Again, you also seem to have a reading problem because I have stated multiple times that I do not own an iPhone. So my phone sadly does not do my laundry.
Luckily, though, I have not put my current phone through the laundry when doing it the old-fashioned way so there's a bonus.
Playing games? Ah, so VSTis and effects are games too? Or only emulations on a phone? Sheesh, just thought this would be interesting to those using iPhones, even just for fun. Oops, fun.. that implies it is a silly GAME. Oh shit.

it's totally relevant. someone mentioned that $400 is a good deal because you get all those features, and i simply stated that i'd rather put that money towards a full on TR-909.
so if i state something obvious like, "an orange is orange" according to you i'm using faulty logic because it's obvious? please, enlighten me.
buscemi wrote:Again, you also seem to have a reading problem because I have stated multiple times that I do not own an iPhone.
right, since my original comments weren't directed towards you AT ALL. and yes, i can read, and yes, i did read that you got a WinMo phone for practically free after your rebates.
please read below again and tell me why you took these comments personally:
anddirty oscillators wrote:i'd rather save $400 towards an actual TR-909.
tell me, where in those comments did i mention your name? i never replied to ANYTHING you said! yet at the same time you jumped all over what i said and later claim that you're not being defensive.dirty oscillators wrote:in 3 years it will be *really* cheap as technology moves foward and the TR-909 will have still retained it's value.
none of this was any diss towards you. none of this was a diss to the link of the drum machine software for the phone. i simply stated my opinion (not what i think other people should do, but what i would do).
you have repeatedly accused me of having a reading problem, called me a name, insinuated that i'm just a child, written things in a clearly condescending manner towards me, etc... then you conveniently change your signature to read "i'm feeding the trolls" as if you're not acting like one.

i'm sure you don't need the IR-909 since you probably have enough fun calling people names like "jackass" and "captain obvious" on the internet.buscemi wrote:Playing games?
