The best kicks, snares, hats, rides and crashes that I have ever heard. This one puts all of the other drum libraries to shame - no question. Done in a great studio with the best equipment and great, experienced engineers. Whew!

Or is this the demo on the review site, that mostly demonstrate synths?
But yes if it says "it's all good" and "appropriate for Beatles covers", go buy it, it's a hit for sure!
Sarcasm noted, but it really would be nice to have some better demos of OWD.

Never really understood companies posting mp3's when they've got the room for several 10MB .wav files. Especially for an expensive product that you can't demo. Sorry for the double-entendre.

I understand the difficulty in formatting OWD to BFD2 - Squids spoke of it over at gearslutz. One can always hope, and with some of the mapping things that were being talked about, I'm pretty sure I can work with it anyway.

But for now, I'd like to know more about which artists' kits will be in BFD2 and downloadable. Maybe start another thread?

Thanks.

Steve
We have 3 mp3 demos per kit now which you can hear here: www.sonicreality.com/oceanwaydrums One for a dry preset, medium and ambient (which happen to also be available now as stereo mixed presets of those three per kit for only $39 each on www.esoundz.com - and Ocean Way Drums Expandable Player is also available a la carte for $99 download NOW).

OWD may never make it to BFD2 unfortunately because it's a combination of the recording, programming and the MIXES. The mixing took almost as much if not more time than the recording of the samples in the first place! Plus it was done at Ocean Way in studio C which costs $$$$. I was lucky enough to have them do it once but I can't see them doing that again just for another format. Maybe for another product eventually in the Ocean Way line but that's different.

That said, the new stereo mixed versions that have those "album-ready" mixes preserved may very well make their way into some other stereo sample formats like our new OmniDrummer plug-in based on KitCore and various popular samplers, maybe Battery and things like that. DrumAgog for example is one of the first ones.

As far as Drum Masters in BFD2 format this is going to happen. We've already started on it and are pretty close to releasing some for download. We're planning on releasing all of the style kits and artist kits from the Studio ProFiles series in BFD2 format as a la carte downloadable kits from www.downloadablesoundz.com However, it's tricky to do and a bit time consuming especially because we're trying to have it do both GM and iMap. But, we're working on it and as I've said many times we really love FXpansion. Skot, Angus and Rhi are buddies of ours and we've been wanting to do this for a long time. I even talk to John, the guy who does a lot of their expansions, on a regular basis and we've been talking about working together as well. So you never know. There are things I like about BFD2 a lot but at the same time I really like the way these kits play in Kontakt format too... I mainly like the scripting flexibility and the full sample engine with envelopes and other features I am used to in order to tailor the sound how I like to hear it and play it. It's very musical. Plus the whole Infinite Player concept I think is one of our best. It's just going to get better and better.

In any case, with cheap crossgrades from Drum Masters to any BFD versions I see no reason to hold off getting Drum Masters Gold now! It IS shipping (and also available as download). Check out our new downloadable plug-in section on esoundz: http://www.esoundz.com/downloads.php?sv=loops It doesn't have a LOT of products but they're all good!!!!!
