Ok, could you tell how to make plugins incompatible with this thing?Christian Budde wrote:Well, this is true, but right now it is to much only a proof of concept that it would work without any flaws. I can't stop anyone from doing this, but I think using the original plugin (GUI) always has advantages. It's individual and most often faster.

Any developers having problems with this, just send me a mail and I will tell how to stop being used by this tool.

As stated on the first page:Liero wrote:Does this roughly mean that you won't develop it yourself any further?Christian Budde wrote: Since this tool is open source, it's free for anyone to modify/enhance it to their needs...
Since no-one pays for it, I can only do this kind of stuff in my spare time. Since I like exploring new things, I decided that this is the way to go. Maybe someone else likes the idea and either develop this on his own or pay for further development (while I doubt someone can pay me with my diploma in electrical engineering now :-/).Christian Budde wrote:I do not have in mind to develop this further, but I'd like it at least to be bugfree.
For me it's just a proof-of-concept as I have done several others before. I guess it's not more than that...

Don't exactly know if this is a bug, but if you close the plugin window once and reopen it, all the text fields disappear from under the knobs. There are also no text fields under the knobs when you first load the plugin but you probably knew that.
This is definetely a cool "proof of concept" as you say, but with the huge amount of knobs and constant 0% startup values for stuff that normally starts at 100% or 50% the endresulting plugins aren't very userfriendly as you have to twiddle most knobs to their proper places at startup etc.
Anyway, thanks for the public release.
EDIT: So BTW there is after 1 merging no loss of audio quality? Or CPU resource-hogging?

Christian, there's no denying you're pretty much a genius.
But i dont what it's used for? ie, how is it different to just placing one vst after the other in the rack????

I still don't get how this is different than a chainer in practice. Anyone?

Look for my new plugin TrilogySphereRMX on eBay. Only $50 for a limited time.docdued wrote:Well, as the result of the whole thing is a dll, you could probably sell the merger as a "completely new product". I expect a lot of high quality plugs to come out in the near future...

Well, with a chainer you have probably several large GUIs on the screen, where the photo-realistic GUI might influence the way how you judge the plugin (which is not bad at all). With this tool you could merge your favorite VST plugins as one with a neutral GUI.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:I still don't get how this is different than a chainer in practice. Anyone?
I have to admit, that more work is necessary to make this a real productive tool, but still it's just a proof-of-concept, with lots of work left to do.
Even if merging more than one plugin, there is no other loss of audio quality, you would have if you chain plugins by other tools/racks. It's probably just using slightly more CPU resources (haven't compared this with other tools, but since the code is written in an unoptimized higher language I guess so. The overhead consumed by this is probably far less then the CPU consumtion by the plugin itself, but just to let you know. On the other hand it's probably less then other tools like synthedit, since only a simple structure is used here.Liero wrote:EDIT: So BTW there is after 1 merging no loss of audio quality? With all the flaws still in, I doubt this. As I said you still have this neutral, but a bit ugly default GUI and several other issues. One would need more programming skills to create a better working merger. Any programmer with that skills could probably created high quality plugins even without stealing other person plugins.docdued wrote:Well, as the result of the whole thing is a dll, you could probably sell the merger as a "completely new product". On the other hand this might increase the competition to create GUIs with a good workflow, that can't simply be replaced by such a simple GUI from the merger.
Kind regards,
Christian
