generation :hihi: "and lo he didst bring forth a mighty dub, and it was good" (i typed bud)

re: "folk" (menehune perhaps) jan you know that in the 50's, more, the movies were 3d vision. those are 3d glasses you see people wearing in the pictures they had in the mtv ads. 4 is an entirely different number.

i caught that popular 50's song in japanese this morning, that would be violas and glockenspiels i guess.

well, yeah I actually was around in the 1950's (not the 1850's, although a war, in this country, was named after me in the following decade).

And, so I do know that those glasses don't work all that great in many cases. You do some post-production bit on the movie, where you shade foreground to the red area, background to the blue area, or vice versa, or some kinda deal like that, and these glasses interpret one or the other as jumping out atcha. It usually just gives you a headache, actually, to try and watch a movie like that, or it does me, out of stigmatism (which is not to be confused w. stigmata)

its love.

more people should make uplifting music like this.
I do believe a better mix-out would make it even better.
Can i borrow the midi file?

Its pure love.

"and now.. more from me.."

thought that this track -

http://www.xoxos.net/nibiru.mp3

~would be a handle on the sound.. almost the same melody.

this recording isn't finished.. i started putting it together when i had a place to live but the traffic is too noisy to finish it, so eg. the bassline is some arbitrary synth patch played arbitrarily.

if you listen to it, it sounds discordant and disorganised, then theres a bit of melody at the end. it's ~a "welcome home" sound, which means that the beginning is designed to work on repeat listens, eg. in expectation of the final melody. try listening to it again and hopefully it will sound a bit more celestial and organised and less ????

(aamof, the first 16 measures will have an announcer "live from the ballroom, we bring you dire ear and the robot discotheque orchestra" or whatever over it..)

being, if you want to listen to me oc :p

i dunno why a bunch of musicians can't hear this and pick out the melodies, just becuase they're superimposed when they shouldn't be :hihi:

WOW. Reminds me of Eric Dolphy. Doing Lester Young or something.

It's mostly really great. There are a few bits I'd clear out, there is a guitar-sounding bit in the R channel toward the end that gets in the way via some dodgy choices, but this sounds amazing.

It does not sound discordant or disorganized, except in those appx. 2 spots, right channel. The harmonies are a bit pungent for the welcome home from WWII dance hall feel it evokes... but, hey 'poignant' or some deal.

you can get rid of that bit of nastiness {@> 2:06 & 2:08, 2 guitar notes that, IMO are not good} and you have something very lyrical, in a more or less unique 'style', but one that's based in a (musical) thing that did happen, historically...

it seems to just die at the end, but you said 'unfinished'.
Finish it then.

That's wonderful, xoxos!

jan, so predictable.. the guitar is playing the melody :hihi:
