RMV updated to 5.0.1 beta 2 this minute, please
pick the new one, it fixes some issues reported
here and via mail.

********************************************

Please use 5.0.1 pb2 from now on and report only
for this. All you need is the instrument installer,
not the libraries (they are untouched).

Yes, you did it! I knew it.
Send effects now ok.
No more "last loop" re-upload when I open the project.
The only thing: RMV still doesn't keep the midi pattern when I close the project. When I re-open the project, there is no midi pattern. It is not a big problem if I dragged the pattern inside cubase4. Maybe RMV works like that on purpose, for some reason I can't see.
And another: when I open a project with RMV, sometimes the plugin GUI is a white window. I close the project and reopen it and everything is ok. Actually, it happens quite often. Again, not a big deal.
Thank you very much Peter, you're the best!|

Hi Peter.
Everything that I reported so far is now fixed in this beta.
Group editing seems flawless now (even solo/mute/chokes etc... brilliant !)
Only tested on my Vista laptop so far .. will give the daw a bashing later.
So far, no problems found at all.
I tried saving and loading send fx on both the last version & the new one, and found no problems here. Saved send FX always seemed to load back in ok. I thought maybe that Biss was being caught out (as I was at first) by the fact that there are a different set of sends for the pads, and each of the loops ??
Anyhow it seems that's ok now on his setup.
I also saw a white gui once, when first testing 5.0 .. but not since.
Looking good .. will check back in later. :D

Post

OK looking good on the daw (win xp) too.

Just a small feature request now Peter .. for later probably ??
Could you make it so that if, before you load in a loop, you set the group of that loop slot (the first default empty slice) to, say group 1, then when you load in a loop (or wav) that all the new slices that are created get the group number you have set ?
It would then be much quicker to change the output channel (for instance) on all the slices of a newly sliced loop.
..or maybe there's a better way.
My problem is that whenever I load a loop, the first thing I want to do is have it coming out of a different mixer channel, in Cubase, than the main kit is using.
Currently I have to load in a loop, and then either:
Set EVERY slice to an edit group, then change output channel or
Set EVERY slice to an output channel.
I would like to be able to pre set the output channel that the loops will use somehow to avoid this every-slice-editing thing !!
(if you know what I mean)

I agree. I consider this or something similar pretty essential at this stage
as it's slowing work flow quite a bit!

I hoped the mentioned "shift drag improvement" was about my feature request, and IT IS!

In beta2 I can press and depress shift while dragging knobs and sliders to switch between fine and coarse edits. Works great!!!

Thanks a lot,
Mario

hi!
the display update problem when changing outputs like described in my earlier post is still there in beta2.

Still looking very stable & working nicely under Cubase 4 here.
Another future-feature-request though .. sorry
Marvelous how easy it is now no find a kit you like, and with the RMV playing along to a song, try different Kicks, Snares etc in situ.
So many to try out too !!
Some of my own samples that I have saved as pads all appear in the pad library, so I can easily swap these in to any kit.
So much better than RMIV.
Some of the kits that I create, though, end up using samples from various HDDs and folders all over my pc.
Saving the kit with a new name doesn't automatically make copies of the samples, which is probably better than the old way.
However, I would like the option to be able to "Consolidate" a kit .. I mean to..
Copy all samples use in the kit to the library, then
update the current kit to point to new copies, then finally
save the new kit & reload new samples.. to keep working on the new copy of the kit.
Maybe those things could be options in a checklist ..
..along with "Automatically create pads in library for all pads in this kit, on (kitTabPage) 1 andor 2 andor 3"
:hihi:
Anyhow, just letting you know really that it's behaving well here. It's going to start replacing my trusty old RMIV in everything I start henceforth!!

Hey, Tony, you keep me busy :-P ;-)

I just uploaded a RC (release candidate), with a improved slice editing feature, try the menu right of the slice selector to assign many slices to a group quickly.

Also: Bart added a dropdown for certain search criteria so you are a bit more clear about whats available there (e.g. style)

Also a few improvements here and there and a coupld of smaller bugs fixed, hopefully.

Enjoy
Peter

Hi Peter.
Extra style etc dropdowns are excellent, thanks !!
The new dropdown to the right of the slice selector :
This is certainly a very handy feature, and cuts down the mousework to do what I want .. but I'm not sure if I'm missing something here .. is this how you meant it to work .. ??
1/ Load a loop
2/ Set the new dropdown to "Group One"
3/ Click once on each slice (which hilights them white) to set each slice to the selected group

If so, that's much better than it was .. but still a shame that I have to click on every slice separately...
If step 3 could be "Click on first slice, then shift-click on last slice, to select all slices" then I'd be a happy bunny.
(or maybe there was already a way of selecting all slices at once that I wasn't aware of ??)

Played with RMV (rc1) for a couple of hours and still looking stable, no probs saving reloading etc.
Looking good.
One minor thing .. the new dropdown to the right of the slice selector is slightly off center, and looks a bit like it was added as an afterthought (which, of course, it was !!) but that's probably just me being pedantic
:D

RMV is unusable on my system. I am using Sonar 8 and I get random pops and clicks when I play any kit I load. The audio interface I am using is an E-MU 1820M. System specs are a MSI KN8 dual core 4200 with 4GB of ram. I tried using both WDM and ASIO. I also have NI Battery 3 and I do not experience any pops or clicks with it or any other synth. Do you have any ideas?

Hello Timp,
thank you for the feedback. I've no idea yet. What windows are you using XP or Vista and 32 or 64 bit. I've heard about problems with EMU cards on Vista systems, but this would of course happen with all instruments, not just RMV.

Yes, I know. However, I'm working on a certain feature that would improve this (and more) and thats going to be in 5.0.2 then.

Thanks for all your help

I'm still running WinXp Pro. I was waiting for an updated version before I reported the issue. I was hope the issue would be resolved. However, after installing 5.0.1 and I still had the problem, I figured it was an unknown issue.

Not at all. :)
One last thing that I noticed which you may / may not need to know..
(sorry !)
I have a DAW, and a laptop. Daw XP, Laptop Vista (both 32bit).
I swap the dongle (usb) and have both Cubase & Wavelab, and all my plugins, on both machines.
I've been using RMV on both.
After installing the latest beta, on both PCs, the next time that I opened the Wavelab Program, it crashed on startup when scanning the plugins.
Obviously, wavelab should ignore anything BUT effect plugins .. however, on scanning the RMV, it crashed.
Next time I tried running Wavelab (on both machines) all was well again.
Is it possible that some fx/instrument flag or something, got changed in the last version ??
Otherwise, still working well here.
