You seem to get a lot of stuff done these days. I wish I could say the same.
Way more distorted axe playing that usual. I was reminded of the Scott Henderson sound. You don't have Steve Smith on drums though but instead you have an bass synth coming straight out of a Gap Band track! I can relate!
As always, we're treated to a nice and interesting mix of styles. I find it funny how the listeners seem to associate very different influences to this. Polyslax mentions David Bowie :o I can't hear any relation to him at all :hihi: But then again, I hate Bowie.....and rock music in general - but I do not hate your music Chuck. KEEP IT UP!!! (So I don't have to! :hihi: :( )

For the record I posted this track WAY back on Fri Oct 24, 2008 ???

A gentleman named Henrik Bergman recently sent me an email saying he heard Liberated Mind on KVR and wanted to know how I got the guitar sounds out of Omnisphere-yikes!-I certainly didn't mean to be deceitful. Anyway I had completely forgot about the track?-looked it up and saw a couple of posts I hadn't responded to and so here it is again. Sorry?
seismic1 wrote:Very nice Chuck. Love that lead tone. What sort of Strat is that? Come to think of it, I like the rhythm tone as well. I got a 25th Anniversary model (Like the one Ray White played with Zappa in the early '80s), but I need to get a new nut put on there. I didn't really notice the drums first time through (too busy listening to that axe), but they seemed to fit quite well on a second listen. Bass was nice too.

Groovin 8)
Thanks Tim:)

25th Anniversary model? COOL!

Jan...I have a feeling you're just being polite but that's ok-thanks!

Hot damn Chuck, that's just sick! I get a real Bowie vibe off most of the track... almost like a fast Fame at times. Seriously, you really have a wonderful sense of rhythm.

All I can say is thanks for reviving this one!
Mathew for president!!!

I can relate to the Bowie Fame vibe for sure-thanks!
annode wrote:Speaking of Jeff Beck...what, no one noticed how Beck-a-sized this track is? :-o
Just listened with phones Chuck. I can't wait to hear this on my Mackies tomorrow!
This is truly insane shit Chuck...excellent work. :D

EDIT: SOAB! This is knockin me out!!!
I love that strat effect chain...and Ableton sounds near pro!
annode...I don't know your name :(

Perhaps you could PM me? And perhaps in the future we could do some sort of collaboration.

And yes Jeff Beck was a huge influence on me as I was growing up :) Blow By Blow blew my shit away-at that time I was moving away from Rock and into Funk/Jazz/R&B and that albumn hit the nail on the head!!!! Thanks!

Pffft. The closest you'll get from me on that score is 'careful'.

What would you recommend I do to clean up/phatten the low end? :)

Thanks!

ummm just boost the low end a little, like this....

listen to your original, then come back and listen to this...
you'll see... then again, you may find it too bassy...
its all a matter of taste i guess. hah thats what
equalizers on stereo systems are for!

Interesting- seems like a no brainer? Dah? Are you boosting the entire mix or would you recommend I boost the bass only-unfortunaley the original is lost-the drive fried... but for future reference I'm interested? If that makes sense? And no it does sound beefier...I really have a hard time with low end for some reason-mental block or something?

Post

I would recommend treating things as separately and surgically as you can afford to, Chuck.

The Young Americans album (from which Fame sprung) wasn't a rock album, it was a soul/funk thing. Terrific album.

Was listening to your music, really liked it. :)
