Thanks! - I figured out that 1/32-short note length thing myself last night, as it happens, and that certainly helped.
One other question - am I correct in understanding that the ONLY audible effect midi velocity will in Tau2 is determining whether the accent triggers (in combination with the accent thereshold setting of course)?

Yes, that's correct. If you switch on the tool tips and tweak the Accent Threshold control, you'll will see a little box telling you precisely what MIDI velocity and above will trigger the accent mechanism. If a note's velocity is below the accent threshold the sound will be played normally. Other than that, Tau2 disregards the velocity information.
