dark, slow & klangy, ambient industrial? (with remix files)

Just chiming in to let you know that I dig this. Huge, industrial drums, dude! Nice work on the synths, too.

Cool tune Synthgeek, like the broodiness of it. And those drums are great (where they from?).
Would be interested in doing a remix of it. The remix files in your first post are a bit big though. I downloaded the smallest part first and a lot of your wavs have huge amounts of silence driving the file size up rather a lot! Couldn't you chop out the majority of that silence in something like Audacity to make your remix files smaller and a bit easier to use?
Anyway, ennough complaining from me. Really good tune!
Cheers.

Thanks synaesthesia! To answer your questions:
The drums came from a variety of sources... the thundery hit and metallic thing that serve as sort of kick/snare sounds were samples from movies that I messed with a bit. The other metallic sound that comes in later doing the 4/4 thing also came from a movie originally iirc. There's a pitched-down hihat sound from DR-Fusion 2 in there. I'd have to look at the project file for specifics on the rest, but like most of my stuff it's a combination of chopped-up samples & sounds from any or all of the following: DR Fusion 2, Drumular, and Drumatic 3 (those are my usual suspects in the drum machine department)... and lots of effects.

All the tracks start at "0", and go until they finish so you can import them into your DAW of choice & have the original arrangement intact. It's my preferred way of remixing- but if the size is an issue for you, and you're genuinely interested in having a go at it, I could put together a smaller set with the silence removed, just the essentials. Might take me a little while though.synaesthesia wrote:...a lot of your wavs have huge amounts of silence driving the file size up rather a lot! It would make my life easier... but perhaps not yours.
I'd quite like to give it an upbeat remix (but keep the darkness) so I'll go with downloading the other two huge parts.
You can check out my remix of Three Faces' track "Make Me Beuatiful" here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... dID=894846 - see if it's something you like!
I'll have a bash, it's a really interesting track.

FYI Syn, the silent parts of the wave files, when rar compressed, have very little size if any. (if they are truly silent) So, it shouldn't be too much of a difference in the size of the remix files with the silences removed.synaesthesia wrote:It would make my life easier... but perhaps not yours.![]()

Fair enough, I'll shut my face then...the silent parts of the wave files, when rar compressed, have very little size if any.
I've downloaded them.
