Here. they are in C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2.5\Presets

With apologies for this thread resurrection, but it was the best match for my problem.

I've just acquired a Powermac G5 and spent most of last weekend (and then some) moving/reinstalling all my music software from the old PC to the Mac.

When it came to ST I installed the sounds on the larger 2nd HDD I installed and found that one of the disks I had was a disk of bonus sounds that I think came from a GB last year. Included in that is a Combi folder that says something like "copy to your combi folder" but I cannot find that anywhere.

I have searched for the combi file extension and even created and saved a combi and searched for that but I am blowed if I can find either anywhere - and they do exist somewhere as there are default combis in the list.

Can anyone help point me to where they might reside on the the Mac?

BTW when I did the install of sounds to the 2nd HDD I used the same naming convention (I think!) just pointed at the new drive.

Do you see the "standard" combis in the St2.5 drop-down list at the top of the GUI?

If so they've got to be on disk somewhere. Try saving a new one with a very distinct name and searching for that. It should so in the same location as the others.

That's the bizarre thing. They are in the list at the top of the GUI. but I cannot see the folder anywhere.

I search for ikmp as an extension and all that comes up is the files on the Bonus DVD

WAIT. There they are!? But why on earth do they not show up in a search, and can I move them to my 2nd HDD - lets not go there just now.

Ah, thanks - this all reminded me that the presets arent' with my samples and I'm installing all the IK stuff on a Windows DAW today. I will have to find a way to move the presets if possible because I keep all ST-powered product sounds on an external drive which makes going from one computer to another easy. I like switching between laptop/desktop easily.

If I remember and successfully move presets I'll post something about it. I don't think you can though.

Combis (.ikmp files) cannot be moved to another location; the path is hard-coded in the software. But you can reorganise them into sub-folders.

You can move instrument presets (.stip files) but they have to be in the same folder as their Instrument files (.stw, .sth and .sti)

I suppose the combi files are pointers to the main samples so size wise should not matter - except of course if you are moving between machines.
