He is a part of Ableton now; I believe he did the much improved Compressor for Live 7 IIRC.

Just to clarify, Drum Racks only allows multi-sampling if using Sampler, not with the default Simpler. Simpler has multi-sampling capability for Ableton's own drum instruments (Drum Machines, Session Drums), but not for samples loaded by the user. For that you need Sampler (which is worth every penny IMO).
You can load multiple samples using Simpler/Drum Racks. Hold down the Alt button while dragging samples to a certain pad.

Ah ok, I see now - we're talkiing about two different things!

My comment was referring to the idea of Simpler itself hosting multiple samples per instance; you're talking about nested Racks of multiple Simplers. So yes, Drum Racks can absolutely do multiple samples per key! With Sampler you can multi-sample within a single instance, although admittedly you lose individual control of each sample.

Sorry for the confusion...

No, problem... yeah two different things. Sampler is still by far the way to go if possible, but Drum Racks/Simper is still a very nice alternative. You can still control things like volume levels, root notes, chokes and the send/returns of the individual samples. You definitely lose out on things like velocity mappings and modulation manipulation but it still works great if you don't want to drop the money on Sampler.

I currently have Sampler set as the default whenever I drop samples into a Drum Rack, which leads to any number of possibilities for sample manipulation... This is of course is a whole other subject, but just had to add that I love the combination of using Sampler and Drum Racks.
