I think bringing the product down to $50 from $250 is going well beyond realistic... regardless if it's believed to be overpriced.

$50 is an insult to the makers of this plugin, 100 to 149 would be a fair price in a groupbuy i think. Than i would definately be interested in this plugin.

Yep.

Though it might make me loose a couple of bucks if a groupbuy happens I support this idea.

"Another" great reverb has been sold at a very low price in numerous group buys who might have left a bitter taste in the mouth of those who bought it at full price. (And make it worth quite few on the second hand hand market not talking of the prohibitive transfer fees .....)

Else : Afaik Kvr doenst organize group buys. The shop structure (ie PHP code) must be rewritten or completed to handle group buys. I seem to remeber a company that organised a group buy without the proper shop structure (might be Pettinhouse if I remember well)

I think the deal was that people payed the lowest possible price when ordering but the product wasn't delivered before the end of the group buy. And people agreed to pay the difference if the group buy would not be successfull enough to reach the lowest price.

Well thats not very easy to handle (must be done mostly manually) but still its possible at least. Hence the need to propose both a fair price and a reachable number of participants for the company.

Despite the quality (imho) of the product, it seems that something under a 100 to get the full discount is a maximum for a -rather- new company.

only imo though.

I would definitely prefer $100.

I do think that $349 is overpriced, but don't want to push the issue, because from the looks and sounds of this, I'm sure a lot of time was spent in development. I also hear a lot of great feedback in all the posts, but at $249 or at $349, this is out of my price range (but that's just me and my current economic situation).

Probably just spoiled because Quick Quack released a beauty of a product for a great price.

I'll second that $49 would seem to be a little ridiculous, and from what I've seen so far I think it's certainly worth more than that. Everybody wants a good discount for sure, but let's not be too greedy either. I certainly don't want to see anybody go out of business around here, even in cases where I might not be a user of their products. In the case of Aether, $100-$140 would seem quite fair.

Also thinking of the earlier adapters... I've been in similar situations where I've paid "x" amount for something and then later a group buy came along or the msrp was simply lowered over time. Not sure what to tell you on that one except that it's never really bothered me. Maybe early adapters can get an additional break on a second license or something.

I had to vote no. I'm semi-interested, but I do think it's way overpriced and I doubt the discount will ever be low enough. The biggest issue I have is that I still can't get passed the horrendous, unprofessional GUI design. It's a difficult thing to hand over so much money for something that 'looks' like it's worth barely £10.

The interface is pretty lame indeed and looks more like a toy than a 350$ plug.
This matters to me because it's too big and wastes a lot of space in the layout. It's also confusingly laid out and doesnt clearly show what does what (the typography is horrendous). A company that wants to be this serious should at least spend a bit of money on a professional layout designer.

I got a 6 year graphics degree and can tell you this wouldnt pass on a professional level. Look at Bigseq 2 if you want to see a great looking and functional interface.

Sorry my math skills weren't up to par last night. :-) I just wanted to
make the point that those who take the chance to support the early
development of products should be rewarded not penalized. If
Andrew wanted to give me a refund of the difference between what
I paid and a lower group buy I would not complain!

I am in need of a good reverb, my last purchase in this area is from 2004, but I find the regular price of 349$ far too high for any single plugin. The demo sounds are superb, and for a price of ??-149 Dollars I would definitely try to find the money to buy this one in a group buy

The problem - after initial prices and group buys - for the developer is always to find out how much he or she can make with the plugin. If reality would mean that at 129$, say, 4 times as many people would actually buy the aether than at 349$, then 129$ would be the better price

, and not just my wishful thinking. If on the other hand people who really need this plugin would buy at any cost, then of course....the poorer chaps are out, and need to find a good plugin for their price category.
What we'd actually need was 10 times as many musicians buying a great reverb, so the price could be indeed 49$ and the developer would still be happy with his sales

Concerning the "I bought it before and now am punished" idea I have little appreciation. I bought Reaktor4-5 for 600 Euro, now it is far cheaper, but I had it for a longer time and am just happy (today I would not have the money, but at that time, he he). I always decide the day I buy, and don't think I am bad off if the developer changes the price later! There was just one exception, where a group buy was already running, the developer had not mentioned it on his website, and the group buy got you the plugin for 50%. Here I was happy I was included in the group buy too. But if I had a plugin for 3months and the price drops - no problem at all, I think.

I took the opportunity of introductory offer and bought 2CAudio Aether this month. If Galbanum initiated a GB right after the end of introductory offer, I won't buy any more product from them. Seriously. Developers of course can price their plugins at whaever range they want. They can even succumb to pressure for a GB. But they need to respect the users who believe the developers' marketing moves at the time of their purchases. I would really effin' hate it if developers toy me with introductory offer and any kind of marketing non-sense.

Rant over. I don't mind Galbanum start a GB in the later half of this year, but definitely not in the eeff April or May!!

I love the gui and it's actually quite well thought out ergonomically with the colour coding, the way elements are structured and the way it makes use of visual affordances such as size cues even if rather more on the funky side than functional (which is fine as far as I'm concerned - who said interfaces can't be fun)

If the GB goes to an affordable level I would be interested.
