hehe indeed, I love both your and Mpsy's tracks. Thanks for the mention guys.

Tankeye's (the monodubs) OSC-TAL awards: (these are just my personal opinions)

Best bassline: Xenox FN - Elek7ofunk7ional
Best Arpeggio: genealex - Our Midnight Psychotropic Garden
Meanest Lead: Not Dead just MenTAL
Best Drum Synthesis: 2 many synths Front Panel
Funkiest Rhythm: Deadline Worm
Most original sounding Leads: Togu - Elektroid
Sexiest tune: K-Bee - Tal-tastic
Happiest vibe: Tattiemannie - Treeshaker

Listened to them all, there isn't a single weak tune the collection in my books.

peace!

Here's some short reviews of some of my favorites in the contest:

Soloin Cochon: Seems to be a very sad piece. Gread low end. Very spacious mix. The bell sounds I'm a sucker for. There's a flute sound I'm quite fond of too. Extremely moody track.

Yeager Reached the Limit: Excellent production. This is one of the many tracks in this contest I have no idea what genre it is and nothing to compare it to. I especially enjoy the part around 1:22 where it starts to pick up.

Treeshaker Tattiemannie: Again, I have no idea what your influences are, but the only thing I can compare it to is Japanese video games, it has a similar vibe to the chocobo racing theme in Final Fantasy VII. All I can imagine is my chocobo dancing after I win a race! LOL!

Tomonori elek7rock: nice groovy track, love the part at :46, adds very much to the vibe.

Elec7ro Deadline Worm: One of my favorites! Very bip boppity bouncy. I have the most bizarre images in my head of acid tripping clowns and mimes from 1985 doing the robot. Love the formant sounds at the end!

Plutonian Midway: After weeks of listening to this one without looking at the track name, I had images (this is gonna sound weird) of the life and times of a piece of farm machinery(possibly a tractor or cattle prod)...just sitting on the side of a barn, but the sun never rises..but is always rising. Kinda depressing. Now that I know the title all I can think of are the moments before the death of some famous racecar driver from Pluto. Depressing either way.

TAL tryout: Another bip boppity bouncy track. Nice main riff. Not a whole lot I can say really..it's just good.

FunerousElek7ro: Starts with a really off-kilter wah bass type thing and progresses into this very satisfying anthem-like hook.

Elek7ro_Togu-Elektroid: Starts out like something I'd hear in a commercial for vodka..all up in da club and shit. But then..OMG that part in 1:10 kick in..so epicly fantastic!

Conch-TAL_OSC-chrised: Very epic track. Sounds nothing like Skinny Puppy, but has this, you're high and now I'm gonna blow your f**king mind!! vibe to it.

The Monodubs - Just One: this is my runner up. Reminds me of a few Hallucinogen tracks, namely Gamma Goblins, yet this isn't psytrance. I never really put in an effort to get any formant sounds out of TAL, but I'm glad somebody did because it's absolutely mind-bending! The faster part at 1:32 first caught me off guard in a nice way. This is what I would have voted for if it wasn't for...

genealex - Our Midnight Psychotropic Garden. This is what I voted for. In the past few months I've been a sucker for bell sounds..don't know why but I'll take it. This track truly has some of the most pleasing bell sounds I've ever heard! They have a timbre to them that just tickles deep inside my brain. Genealex knows his sub-bass too, if I were to do something so seemingly simple it would come out like a mess. This track is full of time changes..from moody drum n bass type stuff, to the part at :50 (makes me want to get up and dance!(oh god that's a horrifying thought!)), to the breakdown at 1:44 and back to the dnb part again. Wow what a moody track! At times gentle and lullaby-ish, other times dark and stormy.

Everyone did a great job in this contest, these are just some of my personal favorites.

So now..who's doing the crystal Challenge? I've started and given up on that one at least 3 times in the past 2 weeks lol. :hihi:

By the way, this would get much more attention if it was in the instruments forum.

Please move this to the Instruments forum asap.
This is very exciting stuff and diserves the attention it whould have. Nobody want this to end in this subforum.
*blah blah blah blah everybody sing along*

i just want to say I'm totally in love with Deadline worm.

Stunning track full of subtlety and groove. Killer mix. If you havn't turned this one up and grooved to it, give it a go. For me this should win because of it's "dance music wisdom" if you pardon the phrase.

Wow, thanks for your kind words!

Noticed a funny thing, too: as I did a pre-render of the final version, I ended up fixing one particular resonant note where the resonance sounded like the line was played off key, and then did a final pass. After a while I realised I was daft enough to upload the pre-render in a hurry :bang: :D, so I then linked the otherwise identical final track to the same address.

As I now listened to my entry in the zip file, turns out it's the pre-render.

It's the exact same tune with a difference of that one resonant note, so this is of course irrelevant as far as the voting is concerned. Still, if you happen to like it enough to keep it, you might want to grab it from the original link http://guenon.kuutikkaat.net/Elek7ro_Deadline_Worm.mp3.

But oh man, having so many great entries I haven't made up my mind yet. TAl-dubli_3 has a wall of killer atmospherics/percussion pulled out of this thing. Elek7ofunk7ionel has a real sexy minimal approach with spot-on sound design to back it up. And so on. Tough one.

I bet if they were all streaming from the original post we'd have more voting. I'm sure people would rather not download a zip file, or would rather not go to the the submission thread and dig through to find all the submissions.

Post

The trick is to keep bumping it .... and chuck in some comments that people will want to respond to .... thereby bumping it further!

Or maybe we have to accept that TalEle7ro is a piece of crap!!

Comments like that?

I think TAL was a pretty cool synth. Not my favorite though. I'm just glad I'm not the only one that suffered from the clicky envelopes. Never quite figured out how to get rid of it.
