Well said.polyslax wrote:Not to mention, listening to Justin's stuff is always like going to school on the production and beat-making end of things.

Woow ! I had a couple of listenings to the 2nd part and there are pretty cool stylish noise arrangements there... More experimental, in a way, although there are full structured melodies as well
'equal and opposite' absurd arrangement is pure class
I'm getting curious to hear the 3rd one
Cheers

I bumped this because I absolutely love when the A La Kart folks are on top of the list....oh yeah, and did I mention it's bad ass.
I gotta take a moment to say this at the risk of sounding like a turd: Please take the time to donate to Justin someday, this man is giving away what I have paid 50-100 bucks or more for in the past on CD and in the form of free albums, presets, reaktor ensembles, battery kits, sound design lessons, mix advice, etc.. Sorry to plug, but this man is giving the farm away for free and I hope my KVR peeps appreciate it....
Donate here and get even more cool 3AM tunes. (sorry Justin, it was the only place I could find on your site to donate to...please feel free to give links to your Itunes stuff...it's just frickin inspiring)

I never know what to say about stuff like that, other than "thanks". Giving stuff like this away just feels right to me. There is a reason it's tough to find a place to donate on my site, I hate asking for money. I'm lucky enough to have something I can share and I want to share it. That's what's really important to me.Jazzyspoon wrote:I bumped this because I absolutely love when the A La Kart folks are on top of the list....oh yeah, and did I mention it's bad ass.

Just a couple songs into Part 1. I'm hearing a lot of similarities to Tri Repetae by Autechre (at least in the more organized sections--and my second favorite album by them). Interesting stuff.
So where are all the gory-in-their-technical-details liner notes?
...oh, also there are quite a few similarities in the rhythmic asymmetries some of Subotnick's Buchla work...Silver Apples of the Moon had some crazed beat stuff that reminds me of this in an off-hand way.

Stuffit was giving me problems with these files as well (I packed them on a Windows machine for compatibility reasons). Try right-click and choose 'Archive Utility' instead.jancivil wrote:#2 came down the pike as damaged goods, according to stuffit.

I hate bumping my own stuff but it's been a while since the last time I posted any new material. I'm also terribly proud of these collections.

I just had a quick listen to part 1 - there's a lot to take in. You have some awesome abilities, I'd love to be able to FSU like that. I suspect on further listening that some of it will be too noodly for my tastes but there's some real detail in everything you do - you must have a warped mind
Reminds me a bit of Tipper.
Thanks for the freebie, I'll stick it on my iPod and give it a listen over the next week or so (the joys of working from home

I got most of the *really* noodly stuff out of my system in the first few tracks. The back half of vol. 1 is much more structured (relatively speaking, of courseCypherOne wrote:I suspect on further listening that some of it will be too noodly for my tastes but there's some real detail in everything you do - you must have a warped mind![]()
Thanks for listening, and for the compliments.
