Yeh. That's what I would expect. I take it that the hardware was still more punchy (or perhaps right word is "snappy"?) and "present", no? That was at least my feeling when doing the UAD/Softube/Urei 1176LN silverface shootout.

However, the differences are getting quite small in my opinion. I'm not sure I could pick out the hardware within a mix in a blind test.

Cheers!

Huge thanks for the heads up on this plugin, I completely agree that it is awesome! I'll be adding it to my plugin folder me thinks :)

Are you sure about an 1176 on the master bus ?
A bit too aggressive and snappy for me, but tastes vary.
I only could imagine using it in parallel, NY style.
Keep an eye out for bootsie's upcoming Density II, that'll be a serious bus compressor.

I'll have to try the new Antress plugs, not necessarily expecting exact emulations but some colourful tools perhaps.

The plugin has this edginess in the upper midrange where the hardware is totally smooth, and yes, the smack or punch is there as well as the low end "moving air". But again, the Antress plugin isn't any worse than other plugins.

i don't use SeventSign on the masterbus...that was only an example for the "problem" mentioned by Bmanic :) ... but maybe a day i'll use it on the masterbus too :D ....anyway i'm waiting for the density MKII from days and days! :D ...i love density too(first release) but more for the master bus than on single track...on single tracks often i feel it too much "fat"...cumulative bass boom is the risk:lol:

Nobody try to catch SeventSign from my audio samples? :hihi:

Nope, I didn't have the 1176 on full program material, just a simple drum loop. It still compresses no matter how little input gain I feed it. But you are right, it isn't a real show stopper because at minimum input levels the amount of compression seems to be very little and it one wants subtle compression one wouldn't reach for a 1176 in the first place! :)

I am stupid because the link in the first post takes me to a page where there is no d/l link I can find. Can I get a Little help?

Post

Go to http://antress.webng.com

Then just click on the >>> Download Here (v4.05) <<< link and you will find out...

I don't have any problems with the input level, as I record my tracks at conservative level. However, I agree that the output level could go higher.

If you build it yourself and don't care too much for the looks and use an inexpensive transformer and meter - 150 bucks for the mono version.

Im not sure I have it in me to build one at the moment. can you pick them up off other DIYers? or is that a bit risky...

I take it the Prodigy-pro is the place to ask?

You can try. But you won't get it that cheap there.
