Yeah. 8.5.2 cant arrive soon enough. Although i think my issues go a bit deeper than a mere update.

For example. (i realise this should be asked elsewhere, but theres always a chance someone else could help)

Kontakt 3.5 loaded into SONAR 8.5.1 - basically entails me waiting for about a minute until the CPU meter has fallen back down from the Redline. Thats even before an instrument/sample etc has been loaded! I have screenshots as well...

Im going to address the Cakewalk forums as well before anyone chimes in. But man...thats some pretty disconcerting stuff thats doinmg my head in with Kontakt. Its crashed a few times as well - wasn't this weird before i updated from 8.3.1 either.

thanks again and sorry for the mini-hijack :?

someone posted a workaround to this problem: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1887642&mpage=2

i tried it and it works once you disable whatever midi port you are using...still, it's strange that you have to do this, people still use hardware...

The Matrix View needs work. They released a fix the same day it was released but that didn't cure everything. It's a work in progress but we shall see after 8.5.2.

Whew I finally figured the whole recording system out and including the matrix. Everything works the way that I wanted and I may not use P5.2 when I could be using sonar 8.5 since it works for me now. May not be user friendly in the beginning but it sure is alot more to this than what I had anticipated. One has to really understand the whole basics of 8.5 to get it working properly and I may not need the 8.5.2 patch afterall or not right now anyway. For the most part I think the matrix is well worth it :D

Well, 8.5.2 is now available if you want it (http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/read ... D=20091119) which adds these Matrix features:

Column naming
Per-cell "one-shot" mode
New button to stop all cells
New option to automatically Groove Clip audio and MIDI clips when dragging into the Matrix View
Improve Mode State UI indicators
Cell content can now be dragged into the Track View
Now supports Step Sequencer Patters containing probabilities
Accessibility and QWERTY keyboard support
Now supports clips of up to 30 minutes in length
Import files directly from cells

It seems a main focus of the S8.5.2 update was to fix some of the shortcomings and improve the workflow the Matrix View.

This is a great update and I don't really need Project5.2 anymore when I could be working with Sonar8.5 for the most part. Even it's much better than Project5.2 in lots of ways and I don't know which ones I like now between sonar 8.5 and Live 8 coz they are both great recording softwares to have in my opinion.
