The bells are actually just from the old version of Plugsound Free. They were subjected to some extreme notch equalization to get rid of unwanted overtones.

Things are good - I'm at uni for one more year, and then will try to get a job as a high school music teacher next year. Hoping it frees me up for more original music, and less covers gigs

Glad to see that things are going well.

Some of the best musicians that I know teach high school music. My own Junior High school music teacher was a major influence on me when I was growing up.

I am actually getting a new live act going. Instead of using samples, we are creating loops live, on the fly. I use the awesome AngstroLooper plugin, with a couple of microphones running into it, while the guitarist uses this monstrosity:



Lots of kinks to work out, but the challenge of making music up live (and believe me, it is really is easy to f**k it up) makes it fun.

I am also scoring the old French silent serial, 'Les Vampires'. The first episode should hopefully be finished before Easter.

Have you ever attended a performance of John Zorn's Cobra? It's been quite a while, but I still recall him conducting by holding up his signs, occasionally cracking up or otherwise reacting in somewhat amused fashion when things didn't quite seem to turn out right or maybe turned out surprisingly interestingly. The audience can generally only get so much of what's really going on and Zorn probably receives a bit more dispensation than the average musicians but in the end it's still good old Aleatoric fun...

If I recall correctly, the now dead agency was called 'Musette Music Licensing' or something on that line. They had a website at one time, but it has since been replaced by a whois page.

This is one of the reasons that I got sick of Taxi. They screen your music to make sure that it isn't crappy, which is all well and good. But they don't seem to screen the companies in their listings very well: lots of fly-by-night outfits and the usual assortment of pretentious music industry jerks that are long on attitude and short on cash.

I've seen John Zorn live (with Henry Kaiser and a bunch of other weirdos) years ago, but I have never heard of the Cobra. I will have to look them up. Thanks.
