This is Coldplay isn't it? Some clever sound design and production and a good arrangement.

Some interesting sound design with contrasting timbres helps to create an unusual mood.

I would have given V'ger and Yeager equal honours if I could - sorry that I had to favour one over the other. An honourable mention to dwsel, her lovely track was in the running for one of the last two spots. In fact honours all around - it does feel rather forced having to place these tracks in some kind of order.

... Oh, and while I think about that vast collection of music in the previous OSc folder, I wonder ... does anyone know anything about setting up an online radio channel?
Might be cool to have a 24 hour OSC streaming channel!
If there's a free option, I could find the time somehow to set it up.

decided to cast my vote as well, although I have been listening to and enjoying several OSCs before this, so here goes:

Yeager - Overture from a Marmite Field - 5

I simply can't believe how awesome this is. This is one wonderful piece - it's so epic, can't find a thing in it I don't like. It'd be marvelous, if this overture wasn't the only thing 'bout things happening in and around Marmite fields, hehe.

V'ger - Io - 3

it has a nice spacy feeling, that can't be denied, emotional landscapes drift across me mind when listening to this, but this could have been longer - ending seems almost abrupt, and all the wonderful images go down the drain. a fine piece, none the less.

dwsel - comforting song - 2

this one sounds rather odd to my ear (and I do listen to all kinds of crazy stuff), the instrumentation reminds me of some of my childhood's cartoons with all the crazy synthesizer music backing up the schizophrenic characters and their geometric adventures, but the bass and the leading instrument (oh, and it's a really beautiful one at that, me likes a lot) sounds like taken from a gangster drama. a weird mix, but it kinda works. in its own way.

I do like the sounds on this one and the ambient character of the composition. somehow made me think of o yuki conjugate, and that's something really good in my book. if this didn't sound as thin as it does, it most certainly would have ended up higher in my list. as it is now, it sounds lacking something.

Good idea, I have a soundclick, ilike and Reverbnation accounts but I don't remember if any one has a radio account. But you can do a play list that visitors can listen to. Hope this helps.

well, one example would be this. Many young latvians were educated with this one, the title translates roughly to "Dilly Dally (the main character) in the land of perpendicular". Music ain't as crazy as in others, oh, but do try and enjoy the plot.

The thing to do is to get a shoutcast/icecast repeater. Depending on how many concurrent listeners you have to support, it's fairly cheap. "Cheap" means on the order of $2.00 per month per listener, e.g., $10 will get you a 50 listener stream for a month at most places. I have used http://www.virtuallifestream.com/
quite a bit.

You can just point OddSock at the stream repeater and play tracks in Winamp, and it's decent quality. I use it to do live performance in Second Life, and it does work really well.

If you have way more than say, 50 or 100 listeners, there's a point where it becomes more cost effective to do real server hosting and pay for a high-bandwidth connection, but if you're there, you're into a professional realm where costs quickly go north of $300/month.

Don't try to stream shoutcast/icecast from a cable modem or whatever. After the 4th or 5th listener, it melts right down, unfortunately. But it's pretty lightweight to stream out one signal to a repeater, and it's a very popular way to play live.
