Spectrasonics does allow transfers BUT there is a 50 transfer fee and you MUST have permission to sell before hand. Buyer and seller must understand that it can take a very long time to get the transfer completed.
It doesn't say you need to grovel for 3 months. A month ago someone & I got to an agreement that he was willing to sell Stylus to me. And that's where it's been for the past month. Very annoying.

I never buy music software with the intention of selling it afterwards. I prefer to keep what I buy because "you never know" I'm kinda obsessive about it too - even things I almost never use, I could never bear to be without them once I've acquired them. :D
Good to know that I'm not the only one with this condition! Heck, I can't even name half of my purchases from memory and some days I am pleasantly surprised while going through my VST list "..wait, what? I own that too!? Awesome!".. and then I forget about it again. :hihi:

There must be a clinic for this condition somewhere? :help:

I never buy things with the intention of selling either :shurg: But if they allow transfer (whoever) then honoring that is part of the deal

Thanks Les, i am grateful that you helped me out and everything is in the clear now.
But on your hand, maybe these threads aren't that great for your rep.
Should it really take a thread like this to get things moving?
I care for your company in the meaning that you provide great products that enhances the sonic world, though not in my hands.

I can't understand the mindset that says I will never buy anything from Spectrasonics again. They make great stuff and have great people on staff (and from a picture I saw last year- they aren't that big either).
You look at the class of musicians that do purchase their products and you can get start-struck at the pros that make a living of their synths. Check out the recent music videos that they have been creating- top notch- amazing musicians- amazing music. Honestly, yes, it is hard to understand when you look at it from their persepctive, why you would want to sell your SW after buying it. But everyone has a reason and the freedom to do what they want. But to badmouth them on the boards is really not nice (although this is KVR so....) Good on Les for even posting here- but I wonder if all methods of resolution were properly acted on before coming here.
Oh well, let the flaming continue.

I've considered selling RMX, because I just haven't ever figured out how to use it to suit me... I know the potential is there, and I've done some interesting stuff with it, but I really prefer a drum plug with an easy beat programmer. And banging out some beats with a bunch of samples. That being said, I can see Spectrasonics REALLY don't want to do license transfers... so it would end up being more trouble than it's worth. And there is the possibility they turn the next version of RMX into something insanely cool, that I would get on with! So I'll siton it and wait 8)

Post

Ha! I'm not going through all that to sell my license!

Besides, RMX isn't really worth much unless you have all the expanders and are planning on selling them too. I've had mine so long, I had to buy all those so there is really no value in selling it.

Its really sad that it comes to this in order to get something so simple accomplished. Its really unfortunate that a good company with great products gets a bad reputation for the wrong reasons.

While it might not be the most tasteful route to come on here (or any other forum) to announce the weak spot of a company, its absolutely necessary in order to:

A. Encourage said company to really listen to the users and change their bad habits.

B. Inform potential customers what they are getting into.

Waiting a reasonable amount of time (easily a month or less) before posting these issues on public forums is always a good idea. However, in this case (as well as many others that we have seen with regards to Spectrasonics) on this issue is simply too long without a resolution.... either say yes and process it, or say no and give a darn good reason why - its unacceptable to support your users this way.

And, yes, I am a happy Omnisphere/RMX user and may purchase other Spect products in the future.... but I do think this needs to be cleaned up. There are many reasons why people may want or have to sell the software... its obviously tough times and if that means having to sell it due to a hardship then I would be rather upset to find that Spectrasonics was lagging unnecessarily. I mean people take the honest route and actually purchase the software only to find that they may need to sell it a couple years later and now get stiffed by the company they supported? C'mon Spect... you're better than that.

All i get is a short answer "I do not have an answer for you yet".

Is this whats called support? Either accept my request or decline it. What so hard? NI responds the same day and fix it in minutes.

I know that some people will say "there already threads like this" and yes indeed there are but where else to cry out when their support doesn't respond though there has been promises to improvement?
DECLINED!

There- that would have saved a lot of time for everyone hahahaha!

(PS- so how many times did you actually contact them- was it always email?)

I bought Stylus RMX and Omnisphere "used", it could last up to 4-6 weeks, but I had no problems with it and I am happy about my patience afterwards.
