Thanks for reminding, my mouth just foamed again from the fond memoriesghettosynth wrote:Obviously you haven't seen the "daw" that comes with band in a box.keyman_sam wrote:A consistent vision to create the ugliest DAW possible you mean.
Though seriously that BIAB isn't a daw by any stretch, even if Sweetwater insist on selling it under the DAW section

SAW is totally skinnable and some skins are very attractive.
Although I'm not talking about it much, I've been using SAW since 1994 and started using SAWStudio when it first came out (was announced and showcased at the 2000 AES convention that was held in LA back then.
Its what I use for mixing/Mastering and stemming and it is the only thing I use when developing/editing and batch exporting assets for my sample libraries.
As a power user of Cubase and Protools, I can tell you that non of thee applications can touch it in terms of elegant and lighting fast editing and mixing.
However, it does not suit the workflow of modern music production where you rely on VI's and writing. It's not a writing tool.
When I see all the new iPad apps for remote mixing etc. I really appreciate SAW since I was doing similar things with its robust TCP/IP protocol 10 years ago
Maybe I will put up a screencast finally showing people why the SAW users are raving about it.

Riiight... like these?teomi wrote:SAW is totally skinnable and some skins are very attractive.
So what you're saying is that it's limited in its field of use, but the two things it can do it does well? ... Not sure that justifies the price tag, though.teomi wrote:However, it does not suit the workflow of modern music production where you rely on VI's and writing. It's not a writing tool.
Please do! And a comparison with something like the ridiculous toy that Reaper probably is to Saw, that would be heaven for me.teomi wrote:Maybe I will put up a screencast finally showing people why the SAW users are raving about it.
Reaper user? Get my free JSFX plug-ins, also available via ReaPack extension.

I would be very curious. We have been laughing at it for years here because of what it looks like but I've never really seen anyone make a case for why to use itteomi wrote: Maybe I will put up a screencast finally showing people why the SAW users are raving about it.

Easy there, Chumley. He described pretty specifically what he likes about it, and did so without accusing Reaper of anything. Please do! And a comparison with something like the ridiculous toy that Reaper probably is to Saw, that would be heaven for me.
He did say that for him, Cubase and PT don't come close for the kind of editing he does. He speaks from his own experience and isn't simply throwing rocks for the sake of being argumentative.

And that's why SAW has become the editor of choice in the audio and film industries where time is money.teomi wrote: As a power user of Cubase and Protools, I can tell you that non of thee applications can touch it in terms of elegant and lighting fast editing and mixing.
