i highly recommend people play the mp3 and not the youtube one because the sound quality is much better on the mp3.
Hey Alex I sent you a PM with my phone #....thanks for the reply...

annode wrote:As for an exciting production sound and guitar sounds with some acrobatics, you've hit the mark of excellence. The opening is as if Zawinul and Pastorious have put out a new tune all the way from heaven. Those are the good parts and they really are...but I feel you could have made something great here if you had more time and patience Chuck.
I do it all the time, but I don't post it...so i don't post, and that's a bad thing I guess, maybe.
Most ppl don't have your talents and never will. I'd love to hear what you'd come up with if you REALLY worked at it. :D
Hey annode. I love your signature: "For many individuals with mental illnesses, creativity is a valued and central part of their identity." SO TRUE. SO TRUE! We artists live on the edge of sanity for sure-it's an obsession.

Thank you for your thoughtful critique. You have some good ears.

Yeah. I agree with you and appreciate your encouragement very much.

And actually this track had been hanging on my hard drive for a while-maybe 6 months old. I throw out 90% of my ideas. I read once, a best selling author said he writes constantly and throws away most of what he writes-he maintains that his writing is so prolific he is bound to write something good or even great eventually. And a light went on for me (I'm sure this is not new to others-Matt? :)). If I can't sleep at night I'll get up and fool around with a track-and many times in this sleepy state I might come up with something that may shed new light on the track..ok I'm babbling now but you get the point?

Anyway... I was going threw my junk file and found this track 'Dying To Get It' that I had shelved and started kicking it around again - brought new life to it and was a happy enough with it to post it here?

I guess what I'm trying to get at is-I get SO sick of my tracks that I just can't listen to them anymore? The most enjoyable part for me is mucking up the tracks with all the toys Ableton has to offer. Bla bla bla...

Anyway thanks again for posting.

Yep, know what your saying. I also have a shelf of sorts...more like a few folders of .fxb/.fxp that I name but rarely go to...although at the time I make them, they are the impetus of a song idea. I also have about a dozen desktop folders with full audio/fxb song ideas, not to mention what's in my Cubase project folder...haha.

I need a partner in crime to run with my unfinished ideas.
You might also benefit from a collaborator ChucK.
My stuff may not be a style your comfortable with, electronica (Berliner style) but i'm a jazz/rock bassist who also plays guitar and drums...has a GI-20 and a full 8 piece midi drum set, not to mention a Shure KSM-44.
Give it some thought...let me know.

Detroit-Philly mashup! :)

I'd actually love to hear what you guys could do together... could be a really interesting blend.

Oh yeah, guilty as charged... my sketch folder currently has 705 project folders in it. I've got some other stuff hanging around, like my Divertimental 2 set, which has another 115 projects in it.

Well I guess I'm not the only one with a large junk folder aye?

annode-I appreciate the offer and will give it some thought-though I have a hard time finding time now between work (which for me is selling houses-just lightly challenging?) and I also have health issues....it is way cool that you have multi talents and cool stuff to go with them!

Ok, not a problem. I've lived this long without 'producing'/'co-writing' with you, and i'll survive it. But from what your saying, i don't think you get the point for working with another. Think Lennon/McCartney. One made a single part and got stuck, the other made the next part, and so on. That frees us up, not ties us down.
Everybody wants to be Emitt Rhodes....haha

I worked with a synth-man for a number of tracks, and we did it like that once. Other times, one just puts the meat on the bare bones from the others idea. I dare not post a track here like that 'cause it's ambient and you'll think that's all we spaceheads can do.
Oh wtf, this was 2 passes between us to get this; "Sonic7 and annode"

This is old. I'm not promoting myself...just trying to make a point. (it got completed, and sounds completed.)

So much music is unfinished because we fizzle out after laying down a cool idea. Then it either sits in a folder to the end of time, or we tack on a lot of repetitive non-sense in a single key. We here should work more together.
I'd like to see more of that, but i'm not the designer, just a suggestion maker.

Sorry for flying this flag on your post Chuck, I mean no disrespect to you.
Thanks.

Dude!!!! (I don't think I know your name :^/) WOW! That is verrrrrrrrrrrry nice indeed!!! Really nicely recorded/mixed. It has a lovely unpretentious dark muse. Professional sounding.

I hope you don't mind me saying-you're a heck of a salesman! Takes one to know one! :)

I very much appreciate the offer. Perhaps sometime in the future we can do something but for now I'm just trying to learn about this groovacious technology and be creative with it.

Please feel free to fly your flag around here anytime!

Thanks again.

I really liked the song. More interestingly, without seeing your name as the artist on my player, I knew it was you. You've got a nice signature style there!

I hate to be the one to bust your chops, but that ish was DOPE! Very nice track. That guitar killed the song (in a good way) and brought the beat to another level. KUDOS!

real effective track. love the gittar. that tone must have been inspiring.

I'm honored Jan-Thanks! I'm NEVER happy with my guitar tone and am always wrestling with it so it's nice to hear that!
