If it doesn't have tubes, its fake.

:-o

Allright, allright, drawing some blood right off the bat...throwing down the ultimate gauntlet here...I'll get back to 'ya on this, I need to formulate my answer to achieve maximum comeback potential....

And my comeback to that is - NO - all that really matters is what voltage hits the speakers. Doesn't matter if it's done with analog electronics, or algorithmically, if what hits the speakers SOUNDS GOOD, and the dance floor fills up, and the guitarist gets the girl at the end of the night then THAT is what's real....

I wonder if one day down the road kids will think "amplifier" is slang for or came from "amplitude" :hihi:

A futurist I see! - And I wouldn't bet against you on that...We still have to come up with the perfect 'power output' section but this particular lifetime tube-amp guy is convinced this software stuff can do the job with attitude. I've got a pair of 20'th anniversary Peavey Classic 30's that would appreciate staying at home from now on too. They're just so damn pretty....Flame maple finishes on'em....

Post

I have to admit that there is nothing like the thrill of seeing the power tubes generating blue plasma when at full rated-power output...there is NO substitute for that....Lemme see 'Hinks Altar' with the lights on too!

Post

I'll take some fresh pics soon, Sunday I gave an amp a facelift but a trip through "your next amp" thread will show you what I'm working with :)

kinda depends if the software has analog or digital attitude, analog being
warmer, and digital cooler. And it costs extra to get a D/A convertor, especially
a tube model, and even more for a Mac compatible tube model

Post

You're right about that - if a computer is the 'amp' it has to have 'analog attitude' or it just doesn't sound good.
