IMO, a multiband clipper doesn't significantly affect the tonal balance unless driven ridiculously hard. It can actually sound more natural and have less negative artifacts than a single-band clipper might.

I looked at all suggestions and I found GClip to be one of the easiest to tune right. However, it easily distorts which is especially noticeable with acoustic instruments. Any suggestions of Multiband clippers?

You can simply use it as a (multiband) clipper. I shared some presets, which you'd see when enabling the preset exchange in the plugin.

GClip is best on drums not acoustic instruments or vocal.
