Thanks for listening and commenting, Dave. Glad you liked it. I was trying to achieve a particular drum sound that was buried somewhere in my memor., I thought it was Tangerine Dream but the more I think about it, the more I feel I was influenced by Kraftwerk even though they weren't one of my favourite bands. Some of their music was great, but other tracks left me slightly cold.

Now you've got me thinking....

Niiiiice track Tim, very upbeat, with nice chewy sounds. The simplistic drums work really well in this setting and certainly bring Kraftwerk to mind. The band that keeps coming to my mind, though, even though this is instrumental, is early Depeche Mode (before the drugs and doom - although that period produced some awesome songs too) - the tinkly sequences, the upbeat feel, the overall harmonic development just remind me of DM...whatever, great stuff :D

Thanks very much for listening and commenting DHM. Glad you enjoyed it. The drums on this seem to be rather popular. I'm tearing my hair out trying to remember the sound I was trying to emulate.

That bass sound reminds me of Kraftwerk's 'We are the Robots' - is that the influence you were hinting at?
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment Jon. Glad you enjoyed it. Kraftwerk wasn't the band I was alluding to, but I've been thinking about this today and there may be something in that. My favourite Kraftwerk tracks were probably Autobahn, Trans-Europe Express and The Model. I always felt that my earlier track Buy Cheese has more than a hint of the bassline from The Model, and this track might have subconsciously borrowed something, but I can't put my finger on it. The drum parts are particularly bugging me. I put them together with a specific feel in mind but I just can't think what it was that I was trying to emulate.

The answer to the question is to be found in Mikusan's post. DM were one of my favourite bands right from '81 and even now, they can still produce the occasional killer track.

How did you tune that formant sound? synth1?
That was a preset called JaEyJaja which I think comes from from the Techno Essentials Synth1 soundbank by Damien Chamizo which is downloadable from KVR via the following URL:-

Give that m(ikus)an a cigar :)

I am a big DM fan, although I never saw them live. This one was a lot of fun to put together, although I spent ages making little adjustment to the drums. I have another track in a similar vein coming in a few months time.

Glad you enjoyed it Mike and thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
