WaveMachine Labs wrote:The porting process involves recompiling the plugin in Xcode under iOS, then porting over the graphics as you see fit. If your plugin uses the JUCE framework, we can provide you with a custom JUCE library that's iOS ready, making the GUI part of the porting job a lot easier.

Impressive!

we will see the meat at NAMM, I guess.
:D

How much will it cost with all plugins?

WaveMachine Labs wrote:Auria supports VST plug-ins that have been converted (by the plug-in developer) to iOS format. It's not a difficult thing to do, and we have an easy to use SDK available for any developers interested. There are many developers already porting plugins to iOS, and we'll be talking to a lot more at NAMM.

How can I know more about this SDK? I'm looking for a good reason for buying my first iPad :hihi:

P.S.: Congrats on this impressive project! ;)

email me for more info about the SDK (rim at drumagog)

The app will be $49.95 and will include several plugins. Additional plugin prices will vary, but most of the more well-known plugins will be in the $10-20 range.

what's the distribution mechanism for the plug-ins? Will they work across apps on a given iPad or is it limited to the one specific app?

Due to Apple's rules, any add-ons, including the plugins that run on Auria must be compiled-in to each app (as static libraries). So to answer your question, once you create an iOS version of a VST plug-in, it will work in any iOS app that supports loading of VST plug-in, but they need to be part of that app. Apple doesn't allow users to directly load a plug-in, in other words.

So is Steinberg involved in this? Porting the VST standard seem like they have to have a hand in it, no?

Very impressive on paper, truly a groundbreaking effort if it works as it sounds, good luck!

This is so silly. I wish Apple didn't exist to make such a model the norm. Good luck and have fun though. It will probably become a success. At least until Apple adds AU to iGarageband.

What about Android ?????

There is already tablets with quad core CPUs and soon, quad core tablets at 250$, that may be something I would buy (I dont buy Apple stuff).

Nice hypocritical trolling, but why even bother? Is what software platform someone uses really that important to your life?

I prefer the term "reverse meta-trolling", and nope, I couldn't care less what platforms people use...
