Wow, that was quick! Bravo, kirk! :D

I was so eager for this, buggered him several times! Even promised to pay $100, so it's all my fault... I do hope this applies across the instruments though...no way I can afford $300 for cs2, cb2 & diamond!

Can't wait to get home and muck around a bit. Frankly, as I'm in the middle of a divorce I was extra good to myself this xmas and got so many long sought after vsts that I haven't even used the complete set of Kirks instruments I got during his generous mega buy... Too busy with diva, alchemy, torch, ewql ccc, mor2, zebra, EAG and other goodies my new found freedom prompted me to aquire.

But that's gonna change with TVEC 4...

Thanks...

YOU DA MAN! :)

BTW, love the latest posts option... I would have totally missed this otherwise!

Hey, Kirk OR other KVRers...

1. Haven't downloaded TVEC4 yet but I see no way in which to assign keyswitches to different patterns... does this mean we only get one pattern at a time? Part of what I like about the LASS-ART system is all the neat patterns that come with it and the ability to switch from one to another on the fly by assignable keyswitching...

2. As I'm not an "orchestral composer" I'm hoping you are going to supply us with ooodles of patterns reflecting real world usage...

3. Is there going to be a way for us to share (save, upload, download) patterns by others better at creating such riffs?

4. Finally, to try out the demo do we have to download the whole package and install it if we already own cs2/cb2 or can we just download the tvec 4 demo?

Hopefully, someone will post a vid on how this new system works... BTW, See youtube vid on the LASS ART which is quite an impressive riffer here:

Guess I'll give the demo a try over the weekend... looks a bit complex for a workweek evening... :?

I'm still not sure if I am going to get this update.

I know Kirk was super generous with the group buy. But seeing it would cost me $160-200 to upgrade CB2 and my 2 divisions of CS2 I am still a bit apprehensive.

especially as there are a few MIDI sequencers plugins that could achieve similar results for less financial outlay...

may have to pop an email over

I think the price is quite right compared to the full library price. Yes a bundle price for people owning more than one library would be well accepted even if I think the major usage of new features is in strings instruments; I will upgrade CSII for sure and than we'll see.

@ vastman: you can't change patterns on the fly but you can do several patterns and play them in sequential or random order; the demo is 2gigs and has to be downloaded entirely

Hi, EdC...

Well, I hope in the final version key switching patterns is possible. Otherwise it's use as a creative tool is way limited...i find I use keyswitching lots to bring up different strums on guitar vsts and being able to toggle in and out and from pattern to pattern really helps craft interesting and realistic beds intuitively.

Hopefully we'll hear from Kirk on this...I'm ok with it showing up on a 4.x update but if all you can have is one pattern triggerable, what's the point? Assignable keyswitching seems crucial and there are 88 keys to work with! Even for smaller keyboards, assignability deals with the limitations; I'd much rather have more patterns than all the articulations active which I rarely use in songwriting...

hate to think I have to save for LASS or NI's offerings which let you switch patterns in real time... Arrg! It never ends! :-o :x

I agree with you that is very useful; I forgot to mention that you can trigger patterns with automation. I know, it's not the same thing but at least you can call any pattern in any moment using editing in your daw.

I guess that's better than nothing but then why not keyswitch? I can't imagine doing it afterwards... Would mean I have to somehow keep it in my brain while playing without creating real time... Not very intuitive at all; anti- intuitive, if anything...

Seems a bit more scripting (whatever that means) is needed if tvec4 is gonna be useful to songwriters who are not orchestral composers. Both ART and ni's system allow for the real time feedback/experimenting I need and tvec4 should have it too,

BTW, did you watch the ART demo above? Does tvec4 enable us to do anything like that?

maybe we gotta lobby him direct...seems a no brainer to me;

How do you trigger stop/start his pattern generator?

Thanks for all the feedback; gardening workload has been too crazy to spend time downloading yet... :P

We really need some more information in depth about TVEC4 - either user review/s or description from KHS about what it can do. It's difficult deducing this, trying to work out how it might be useful, from just the annotated Kontakt panels of TVEC4 that I've seen.

I'm not at all interested in the sequencer aspect of it - there are any number of dedicated tools out there.

But I see that Kirk has said that TVEC4 supercedes the duplets/triplets feature of TVEC3, so it might in principle allow users to better hand-tune a musical phrase so that the note-to-note transitions sound more realistic. Even better if the software were to take care of the gory details of the sample splicing/glueing behind the scenes. I would be interested to know if this is actually the case in TVEC4, and how well it operates.

I obtained CS2 and CB2 in the group buy. If TVEC4 goes a way towards improving note transitions, I would have no problem seeing the upgrade price as adding value.
