But unlike Sylenth1, which has been had a 64bit version since 2008, Korg has yet to offer the legacy collection in x64 format. That's a shame, since I use Studio1/V2 which had no decent bridging (i.e. using jbridge doesn't count). Shame, too, since it's half price for owners of nanokey/nanopad products...mholloway wrote:... it's hard for me to name anything out there that is better than Sylenth1. My overall favorite collection though (and thereby in a sense my 'favorite synths') is still the Korg Legacy Analog collection. Mono/Poly, Polysix and MS-20 will always be among my favorite soft-synths. Still use them every day.

I've never heard of Dune either. I suppose that's on the horizon for me as well.mholloway wrote:I'm curious to hear why, specifically, you find Dune to be a superior version of Sylenth? Sylenth1 sound is so clear that I can't find a substitute for it. Dune is great but no way hits you like when you hear Sylenth.
Like Diva, these kind of synths are able to create their own path with their unique sound character. Like the mimimoog and ARP or Albino.

Good to hear you're a musician first, but if you can even mess with Reaktor then you are way beyond me in sound design.bluedad wrote:Well, I'm more of a musician than anything..but am in the process of putting my DAW back together, and Zebra was the first thing I installed. Followed so far by Reaktor, FM8 and Alchemy.VividX wrote: It would be a little more interesting to me if you mentioned a few other synths that do work for you. If Zebra is your only synth DAMN. Hey, only speculating here, maybe you were also "pissed off" by the fake "thank you trying this demo" guy, I know I was getting there, and I bought it after thinking, either I buy it now or hate Lennard forever. I'm glad I chose the latter. Speculating again, you sound like more of a sound designer, which I definitely am not. I tweek sounds but I don't know what I'm doing most of the time. I need the sounds to impress me right away. I'm excited for Zebra, I had never heard of it before I posted today.

Sylenth1 is my favorite Synth also. I sold my Access Virus Indigo when Sylenth1 first came out because Sylenth1 sounds as good if not better than it did.

I prefer the sound. To my ears Dune sounds cleaner than Sylenth, less rough. The on-board effects are also better sounding and you can re-order them.mholloway wrote:I'm curious to hear why, specifically, you find Dune to be a superior version of Sylenth? You have much more waveforms to choose from. There's also true pwm and basic fm. More choice of filter types. The ARP is much better too, with more modes, like Duophonic. And the DUNE (Differential Unison Engine) is really great when you start digging deeper. The sound potential is much greater than in Sylenth, which is a good sounding but very basic synth.
But like I said in the 1st paragraph for me it's really the sound. To my ears Sylenth sound very good, but Dune just sound better.

I definitely haven't seen the 50 million threads about it because I'm usually too busy playing instruments and making a living.Kriminal wrote:no, its a pretty basic VAVividX wrote: Anyone agree with me?

And since you don't mention any synths that aren't "basic" you come off as either angry or simply boring.

good for you, thats quite a rarity around hereVividX wrote: I definitely haven't seen the 50 million threads about it because I'm usually too busy playing instruments and making a living.
sorry, didnt realise i had to list things, maybe i'll do it another time when im less busy. Im sure you're intelligent enough to know what synths are basic and what synths are not tho, so a list seems a little futileVividX wrote: And since you don't mention any synths that aren't "basic" you come off as either angry or simply boring.
im not angry in the least, boring is subjective, a bit like your thread subject, so i cant comment on that, you'll have to ask ppl who spend time with me.

Awesome bro, I see now that you're actually a funny dude that likes to give quick answers because you're busy too. Saves me a little time calling your friends. When I said best kept secret I meant that I haven't seen it being endorsed by well known artists and producers. I don't equate intelligence with the knowledge of what makes a synth basic or not, all I care about is how it sounds. Sylenth1 is beautiful to my ears, basic doesn't concern me.Kriminal wrote:good for you, thats quite a rarity around hereVividX wrote: I definitely haven't seen the 50 million threads about it because I'm usually too busy playing instruments and making a living.

Another reason Dune is probably better is because it is actually supported by the developer (64-bit for Mac AU for example). Neither are available for RTAs or AAX, but I imagine Dune is more likely to support that vs. Sylenth1. You can use the FXpansion wrapper for now in any case (they have an AAX one coming soon too apparently).

Hail the Mighty Sylenth!
Sylenth is my favorite synth also and is immediate ear candy. It is the little guy that (even with it's limitations) made it big in the music world. Lennard said in an interview that he worked as a DSP engineer for Phillips Electronics years ago, so it would be interesting indeed to see the algorithms he put into Sylenth (especially the fantastic unison)
Sylenth is the best sounding synth in it's class. Does NOT have: the most features - no PWM (there is a work aroound), the most mod sources, the best gui - but absolutely the best sound. Sylenth has more sound sets created for it than any other synth - WHY? Sound designers obviously love the sound and know the market is there to sell their creations, because so many musicians love Sylenth.
I have other synths such as Zebra2, Diva, ACE, Komplete 8, all of Arturia softs, Krishna, Sytrus, Korg, OPX Pro II, Ultra Analog, Z3ta+2, Imposcar, XILS 3, Synthix and the rompler/hybrids Alchemy, Omnisphere, Nexus 2, Phaedra and Xphraze. None sound as good as Sylenth.
Hail the Mighty Sylenth!
