Wow, thank you both so much!

At the moment we are listening to all tracks and it's going to be a tough job this month to get our top5, there are so many good tracks!!

Thirst let me say thank you for choosing this amazing synth for the OSC. It made so much fun to play with it and it was surprisingly to hear, how much different sounds the contestants could make with it. It was hard to choose the top 5. A lot of tracks had the potential this time.

5 points: Bzur - No More Tears
Beautyfull melodies, sounds and arrangment. Oh what a bass sound! So much feeling! Very nice build of the track. Uses a very wide spectrum of the possibilities of Helix.

4 points: painpotato - Unidentified Element
Very cinematic track. High speed soundtrack for a rollercoaster. I can feel every curve! This track has a big drive from the begin on, but the power and intensity is constantly increasing! Compliments to that. Only criticism - watch the dynamic. Too much compression!

3 points: Solidtrax - Are We Dreaming
Take a good pair of headphones, close your eyes and listen to 4 minutes of wellness! A perfect track after a stressful day in the office.

2 points: Pulse Width Modulation - Flight Into Light
Very nice intro! Good mastering! With a better kick sound ( I know, it is question of taste) and a shorter duration of the track, I would give more points. There are some nice melodies and ideas, but it takes time to go there.

1 point: Jasinski - The Locusts Approach
It is not a track I liked from the first listening. It is much more complex. But I have to give this point for technical reason. It is so creativ, it has so many turns, great reverb rooms and a very balanced mastering.

Good luck to e everyone!

Just narrowing this down to 5 tracks was very difficult for me to do. Then I had to rank them! Great work everyone, (not just those in my top 5).

Bzur - No More Tears : 5 pts (OK! I'll be a man and stop crying)
Bjulin - Asellus Borealis : 4 pts (I can't quit moving to this)
Solidtrax - Are We Dreaming : 3 pts (beautiful melody)
Jasinski - The Locusts Approach : 2 pts (so creative and funky)
Painpotato - Unidentified Element : 1 pt (constant build up, I wanted more)

V'ger, thanks for all the work you do to keep this going.

BTW: I took all music off of my iPhone, and put in all of your songs. That's all I've been listening to for the last few days. The number of times I listened to each track factored into my voting.

Thanks for the votes, and I really appreciate the feedback on my first OSC!

Painpotato, regarding v1 versus v2, I was afraid that might happen. :)

Thanks everyone for the votes! A pleasant surprise. I'm just happy to participate in such a fun challenge and get to know some other producers.

I liked the first version slightly better as well. Do you still have it? I'd love to compare the two to figure out what I liked more about the first version. Believe it or not, this has been bothering me a little bit... I have issues.

Post

today's topic - new version,better or not? - featuring jasinski :P

i was wondering why you updated the track too.
and i like to share my thought as well if you release the first version.

I enjoyed listening to the tracks cranked up in my car all week. It was hard to decide. There's so much talent and work into all of these. But here's my votes:

Photonic - Beyond Horizon: 5 points
Classic space music sound, with an arrangement filled with emotion and wonder. I loved the way each color and texture flows in and out. Every patch lovingly engineered, showing a prime expertise on Helix! From what first appeared to me as more of a dance synth, you show us that Helix can be graceful and elegant too.

Biporter - Key of G: 4 points
I'm WOW-ed every second! Thick! Fat! Heavy! Lush Sounds! THE best drum synthesis I've heard on Helix! The arrangement was exciting! I have to admit, I did find myself dancing the Robot. (I am over 40, so please excuse me...)

Painpotato - Unidentified Element: 3 points
The name is Potato"...Pain Potato...Incredible soundtrack fit for a Bond movie, with so much variety and building tension! Catchy melody! Next time I'm anticipating a car chase with the CIA, your song is definately in my CD player!

Jasinski - The Locusts Approach: 2 points
You took a solid groove that could have easily stood by iteself, and animated it with all kinds of great sound design and creative variety. I could groove on it for 10 more minutes if you recorded it that long!

Bzur - No More Tears: 1 point
This song captivated me from the first few measures. Gorgeous, dreamy song that conveys feelings of longing. Instruments like the snare, piano, and accordian used good synthesis and made great choices for a lush arrangement.

here we go...

Bzur - No More Tears (5 pts.)
This is a very emotional, very well composed and nicely built track! I LOVE IT!!

Jasinski - Locusts Approach (4 pts.)
Wow... I simply love the groove and all those little elements, constantly changing! Very well done!!!

Painpotato - Undefined Element (3 pts.)
OK... how cool can this be? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY COOL!! ;) Outstanding!! Very cool Soundtrack-Track ;) This is a very good track for realizing how good layering works!! Man, this is really something different, but still enjoyable... VERY WELL DONE!

Solidtracks - Miracles (2 pts.)
This is a very groovy track, too... It feels like a happy time with Iceskating ;)

z.prime - Leaving Home (1 pt.)
My last point goes to z.prime. This tune is very calm, except of the bassline... but it does not hurt me that much! ;) the melo is done with a very warm analogish sound... still there's a lot of groove in this track, too! Thx for this nice little track!!
---------------------

It seems that Helix made a lot of people groove, isn't it?? ;)

There were a few people, that improved a lot... so keep on learning and do your best!! -> GANBAREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! =)

cheers, Bjulin
