I am personally using an A&H Zed10FX as an interface to my new Ipad with excellent results. It's not exactly a portable solution, of course. Many other devices will work as well, but the key issue is the supply of power.
That's what I first used, a long long time ago ;)

And indeed the main problem is the power, very often I couldn't use my iPad because I forgot to charge it /turn it off.
Also my devices wouldn't work sometimes while I never had a problem with the dock, maybe a few times I had to turn it off and on again but that's it.
Also being able to mix direct input with audio out, separate phone/line out volume, left right volume, din and usb midi makes it pretty good, especially when there is no much choice around.

Will see how it goes with the tascam, but with all the problems I have with my us-800 I'm a bit worry tbh.

I have had none of the mentioned issues in this thread with mine. .Would recommend it TBH.

Now that the iOS software devs and apple have caught up to universal standards, my IO dock is really great. 2 months ago, not so much, now, awesome. GET it!!

Does someone know if it's possible to get an extension cable so the iPad doesn't need to be in the dock ?
I could then put one off my small hw module on the dock, saving a bit of space, while being a little more mobile with the pad.

Definitely- I've read posts at Alesis's forum where people have been having issues with the connection, and an extension cable solved it.

Thanks, will give it a try if I can find one around here :)
