I don't really use my iPhone for making music, because while it's possible, as you say the screen is too small. I do use it for amp sims, and I'll use it for recording clips into GB. However the iPad I use all the time, since obviously the screen size is so much bigger. It's also a lot easier to deal with on planes and trains, because I don't have to pull a large laptop out of my bag; it's just not as awkward.TristezaOrange wrote:I have downloaded several apps on my Galaxy S II thinking that I'd be a great sketchpad for me on the go. I was even thinking of getting an iPod touch for music-making on the go, since the situation is so much better on iOS.
Unfortunately I have found out that I just can't do it. It's not like playing a casual game on the bus or while waiting in a queue. I can't live without my Kontakt instruments, my AudioDamage FX etc. I buy each and every music-making app on Android but it's just... impossible. The screen in too small, the interface too limited - it just sucks. It feels like I'm fighting an uphill battle for minimal benefits. I can't wait to get back to my desktop. Maybe it'll come in handy for saving ideas I have while I travel but even that can be accomplished with a voice recording app and I can harmonize the melody later. Anyway, good luck to those that can write music on phones/tablets. I most certainly can't.
So my answer: I don't go anywhere to write music unless I have my laptop with me.
Where do you go to make mobile music?
