What is your opinion on submiting an amateur vs pro sounding work in a "everybody allowed" contest ?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I think you should make it sound as good as you possibly can
It is a contest!
(unless it says award goes to the most lo-fi amateurish production!)
