Yes, you're right, Waves doesn't support Reaper. They support ACID that hasn't been updated in three years but not Reaper. Their demo system still sucks but I suppose that's why I couldn't find the Tune plugin.hibidy wrote:I love the new waves set up. I even actually bought my first waves plugin EVA!
Yeah, it was just Rbass, but still. However, reaper is not supported by waves so make sure it works before purchasing

Waves make some excellent plugins - there's no doubt about that. I did a lot of research about Waves Tune vs Melodyne vs AutoTune and Waves Tune got a lot of good reviews. Which is why I was so pleased they dropped the dongle but then got so frustrated with the demo experience.hibidy wrote:haha, I got those too. I had issues with SSl and they were kinda lame in responding back, what the hay.....I didn't get that.
But there is no substitute for rbass

Yeah, I don't understand this at all. Oh well, since the first time I was introduced to a "host" it's been all downhill.munchkin wrote:Yes, you're right, Waves doesn't support Reaper. I got Waves Tune LT working just fine in Reaper 4.21 , without the rewire thingy working. It still says unable to establish rewire link.munchkin wrote: I then launched Reaper 4 and couldn't find the Waves Tune demo. There was a ReWire Waves plugin but this didn't launch WT.
Finally after about 45 minutes of farting about I've uninstalled Waves from my PC never to touch it again until they make the whole process much more user friendly. The last thing I will do is pay money for that kind of inconvenience. I wish I could delete my account and wipe all my personal info.
But this was licensed, I don't know about the demo stuff. I never went down that path.
But still - Reaper is not a supported daw - and any support you are trying to get will require using a supported daw. Have that in mind. It's kind of suprised me that GUI bugs was ignored since I did not run it on supported daw.
I asked about upgrade price to full version Waves Tune, 3 times, but never go a reply to this. Probably because Reaper is not supported daw.
What is unusuall in Waves is that default is running all plugins through the wrapper with a different parameter for different plugs - and if adding one product later you have to clean cache and rescan in Reaper. But there is a converter to convert every plugin to it's unique name as I read somewhere.
Did you add the correct install path in Reaper for Waves Tune demo?
Did you run Reaper as administrator and redo the scan?
I always run Reaper as administrator to avoid problems. Many plugs get authorization problems if not
Buying a bundle a month ago was my first contact with Waves. The process was pretty straight forward I think. But buying another product later, which I did, required me to download an installer again as well as running licenser. They could very well incorporate this into the licenser all of it - more like Native Instruments where you download updates direct from Service Center.
If having to register to run a demo is quite reasonable as I see it. You have to be rather touchy to complain about that.
I really like the Waves bundles I got so far - Gold and Classic Compressors bundles. If all plugs work well I go for more.
One of the things I like the most are the A/B testing abilities to test changed you made in settings.

The only problem with small vendor is that they actually are closer to become zero vendor - going bankrupt more easily. One product that is good and sells for a while - and then cracked by pirates and sales stops - and there you are.DuX wrote:That's why I support only, so called, "small developers". Not exactly small in my eyes. If a developer has 1 or 2 great plugins, that's more than enough and it's easier to support 2 than 200 plugins, eh?Say Cytomic The Glue, DMG Audio Equality and Compassion, ValhallaDSP ValhallaRoom and Ubermod, Voxengo plugins... They're all worth every dime!
Cheers!
So autorization principles are kind of important not to rely on computer you are running.
Many companies now give you with a unique version of your plugin, where your credentials are burned in kind of - and no dependence on which computer it's on.
Look at the complaints when Kjaerhus Audio went bankrupt. Sooooo many users left in vain not being able to reauthorize plugins again - and the guy left the surface of the earth giving no help to old customers/supporters.
So if to tie a license to a computer I only buy from large vendors, or money is rediculous and it's not the end of the world if they die.

...but with some extra needed features - doing rewire connection for some purposes.yl wrote: waves tune works under reaper.. since reaper is a vst host..
cheers.
Some plugins have certain needs still - like be able to do sidechaining, supporting midi out from plugins, supporting midi in on audio effect etc.
So it's not that simple that any VST host handle everything VST.
But as you say it works still without rewire connected in Reaper as I tried Waves Tune LT anyway.
Some minor flaws with a rightclick menu that created a region where it popped up it seems and gui did only update outside this rightclick menu space until you did something that made the whole gui redraw. Just a short start transport and stop again fix it.
When rewire works it might make this region go away - I don't know.

I've had problems with the Waves License Center. I have to repeatedly authorise my computer so that my 2 Waves plugins work (IR1 and Vocal Rider.) At one point I had one instance of IR1 working and tried to load another and got the message which basically says 'This computer is not authorised to run this plugin' even though I'd run the License Center about 15 minutes earlier. I couldn't get the second instance to load. I have to say that I like Waves' plugins very much but I'm not sure I want to deal with this kind of unreliability.
Btw, to all those people saying things like 'they are "probably" selling on user details'; if you don't have any proof of that then show the companies involved at least the basics of common courtesy. Your unproven speculation will get translated into cold hard fact in the minds of some readers which would be grossly unfair if these companies weren't selling on details. I've noticed no more spam than usual since I've given my details to Waves.

I read about the issue of licensing you have and running Waves v9 on 32bit host and W7 x64.simesf wrote:I've had problems with the Waves License Center. This both in Cubase and Reaper.
Running x64 host though fixed it for Reaper guy anyway.
I think there might be a bug regarding this. Talk to Waves if you have a supported host.

I agree - it sucks indeed. However, no-one forces you to enter your real data. In the past couple of years, more and more companies have jumped on the "data collection wagon". Personal information is collected even in cases where it's absolutely not necessary. I'm reeeaaallly sick of that! Unless I consider it important, I do not give my real data. And most certainly not for a demo.Tubeman wrote:This kind of fishing of personal information sucks. They are probably selling the info they gather for marketing or other purposes. I personally stay away from anything by Waves.munchkin wrote:They now have my personal information regardless of whether I ever wanted to buy anything from them.
No Waves rep is ever going to turn up to check your street address, or knock on your door to check whether your real name is the one you gave them.

Agreed. I never had a problem with iLok and Waves. Now that I finally got Waves 64-Bit (which I was waiting for over 3 years) and now have this stupid authorization problem. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Very frustrating.

I'll agree with anyone the whole Waves experience, dongle or no dongle, is convoluted and off-putting. The good news is, after you buy your bundle, you don't have to mess with this stuff too often. Even then, the whole download-the-entire-installer-package-and-check-off-your-bundle thing is annoying, as is the whole Waveshell paradigm. But they are a lot less annoying than they used to be.
But yeah, demoing Waves is rarely fun. For me though, they make essential, stable, realiable, cross-platform products, so I put up with it.
